View descriptionShare

It's July 5th. This is Jeff Flynn from the Boerne Star.

Boerne ISD officials are assessing the damage at Boerne High School after a small fire on June 29th in the school's band auditorium. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than 20 minutes. Damage was confined to the immediate area and some equipment nearby.

Preliminary investigation shows the cause of the fire was a lighting equipment.  The dry street continues for Boerne and Kendall County. It's been over two weeks since the county has received any measurable precipitation. So keep an eye toward Monday's Kendall County Commissioner's Court meeting. Fire Marshal Brady Constantine may report on whether to reinstate a burn ban for the county, which was lifted last fall.

Most surrounding communities are already at stage two watering restrictions. The Cow Creek Water Conservation District has been on stage four conditions since July 18th of last year. The Burning Community Theater presents Poetic License, a comedy by Houston playwright Carl L. Williams, this weekend and that continues through the 21st of the month.

So if you want to get out and be out in the public today, go out and catch the BCT's Poetic License. Bernie Radio News is delivered to you by the Boerne Star. This is Jeff Flynn, Boerne Star for Boerne Radio.
