Happy Birthday to Mick Fleetwood - at 6 feet 6 inches, he turns 78 today...He was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac with John McVee along with Peter Green, and Jeremy Spencer.  Mick has a home in Hawaii, and lost his restaurant and bar there called Fleetwood in the 2023 Hawaii Wildfires.

And breaking news!  Hill Country Family Services is the Boerne Radio Nonprofit of the month…yesterday we said we’re just $12,000 away from making our goal - so special thanks to Cheryle Curtis who heard the call and gave a gift of $300 - that turns into $600 from the Kronkosky Foundation…last week The 100 Men of Boerne awarded HIll Country Family Services with $1000…but are you ready for this…Ms. Menchaca…you know who you are…she gave a one time gift of $15000.  Oh my…thank you Ms. Menchaca…  So minus some pending pledges now we’re just $1000 away from our official total goal.

Maybe the man who just won $5MIL in Boerne can throw a few nonprofits a bone…yes, a local Boerne resident just won $5 million dollars off a $100 scratcher. He got it at the Mobil Gas Station katty-corner to Boerne High School.  The owner of the store doesn’t know who the winner is but suspects it’s a man who bought a whole pack of that game - 150 tickets in one roll times $100 - you do the math, but nice return on your investment.  According to the Texas Lottery, this is only the second of 4 $5MIL prizes to be claimed in this particular game, and the odds of winning any money are 1 in 3.84.   Special thanks to KABB Fox San Antonio for making the trip out to Boerne to cover the story. 

Here’s another winner…Garrett Carr has been announced as the new Principal of Boerne Middle School North. Mr. Carr has been with the district since 2022 when his family moved to Boerne, originally starting at Champion as a CTE Health Science teacher, and has been the Assistant Principle since 2023. Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft said “BMSN has a proud legacy to uphold, and Mr. Carr is the right leader to guide the campus into the future”.  His first day will be July 21st.
