It’s Monday June the 23rd,
And on this date in 1865 The United States Secret Service was established by Congress. It was created to stamp out rampant counterfeiting after the Civil War where nearly one third of all currency in circulation was counterfeit.
After the assassination of President McKinley in 1901, the Secret Service was tasked with the full-time protection of the President of the United States.
The local 4-H gun club just got the greenlight from the Kendall County Commissioner’s court to build a new skeet and trap field complex to help with training their members. The proposed 1-to-2-acre facility will serve students in grade 6-12, offering a space to learn and develop skills. The 4-H club has raised more than $121,800 in donations to help cover construction and equipment costs, demonstrating the strong community support for the project.
Hill Country Family Services is hosting a blood drive this afternoon at the Patrick Heath Public Library. You will receive a free gas card if your give a pint. They will be there until 3 today - but you can give anytime at their location on Bandera and Norris..
The Kendall County Fair’s Queens Court competed in the Stonewall Peach Jamboree on Saturday which is about an hour north of here. They were there to promote our Kendall County Fair that happens every Labor Day weekend…and guess what…they won first prize for their float. Way to go Queens.

And dear Boerne Radio Friend - 3 weeks ago we declared Hill Country Family Services our Non-Profit of the Month and our goal was huge - we needed $50,000 to complete a matching grant challenge from the Kronkosky Foundation - and thanks to Texas Heritage Bank with their gift of $5000, Ron and Kathy Fielding for their gift of $5000, and Restoration Solutions by Elite’s gift of $5000 plus other Boerne Radio listeners we’re now at $39,185 - just less than $12,000 to go.
Hill Country Family Services SERVES! They feed, they clothe, they shelter, they help families in crisis…and I’m asking you right now, help us get to this goal right now - we need 12 people to give $1000 and we’re done because that gift gets doubled. We need 24 Boerne Radio listeners to give $500 and we’re done…or can you give $103.90 cents because Boerne Radio 103.9FM is your favorite radio station.
