Boerne Radio News- June 17th, 2025

View descriptionShare

t’s Tuesday June 17th.

Do you remember where you were on this date in 1994?  Every major network went to a live slow-speed-chase in California as a white Bronco was pursued by Los Angeles police.  More than 90 million people watched it until it ended in OJ Simpson’s home where he surrendered and was arrested with the charges of murder.  OJ was pronounced not guilty by a jury of his peers on October 3rd, 1995.

It’s the Restaurant edition of Boerne Radio News…

Big changes are coming to North Main in Boerne. The giant rocking chair that once sat in front of The Rocker has found a new home at the Boerne Backyard off I-10. Meanwhile, the former Rocker building won’t stay empty for long.

In a Boost Boerne Business radio interview, Isa and Randi from Bella Sera Italian Restaurant announced they’ll be moving into that space this July. Their current building is scheduled to be torn down, making way for a brand-new Bella Sera to be built in the parking lot just to the right of their current location.

So don’t worry—your favorite Bella Sera Chicken and pizzas aren’t going anywhere. They’re just getting a fresh new home.  You can hear the full story on Boost Boerne Business this Saturday morning at 11:30 right after God and Our Dogs.

And speaking of Boost Boerne Business, the networking event will be at The Fair Oaks Roost on Fair Oaks Parkway this Thursday from 4 to 6pm - and while it’s free make sure you register at BoerneRadio.com

Yesterday marked the official grand opening of Sunny’s All Day Brunch and Bar on River Road. VIPs from Boost Boerne Business and TheBoerneLife.com Insiders sat inside and outside on Sunny’s cool patio…getting the first taste during the soft opening,

If you know Albi—yes, the Albi of Albi’s Vite in Leon Springs—you know he’s famous for always wearing black. But at Sunny’s, he's swapped his signature look for bright whites, fitting the bright and breezy vibe of this new brunch spot.

We caught up with Albi between the waves of opening-day excitement:

Tonight, grab a lawn chair and find a shady spot on Main Plaza for a Boerne tradition—the Abendkonzerte featuring the Boerne Village Band. Music begins at 7:30 with classic German tunes, local stories from Boerne’s early days, and yes—you’re welcome to Polka on the matted down grass, thanks to Das Festival.

Congratulations are in order for Boerne City Attorney Mick McKamey- he was just named a 2025 Amicus award recipient by the International Municipal Lawyers Association. This prestigious award is only given to 55 attorneys nationwide and celebrates their pro bono contributions to the association’s Legal Advocacy Program. McKamie has supported local government interests through amicus briefs submitted to courts across the country, including the highest court in the land. His efforts help strengthen the legal standing of cities like Boerne in cases that shape public policy nationwide.

Next week the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and TxDot will be holding a mobility meeting to give updates on the various road projects occuring in the greater San Antonio area, including the work done on I-10 and 1604. Not to mention, the organizations want input on how to mitigate their funding, and Boerne could use some help with some of our roadways. The meeting will be held next Wednesday at 5:30, and will occur at Kronkosky Place, just up Old San Antonio Road.
