It’s Friday June 13th!
The three day Das Festival of Kendall begins tonight in Main Plaza with live music, the Das Festival Parade begins at 10am tomorrow morning and in one of the coolest cars in the parade will be the Boerne Radio Father of the Year as we’ve been taking nominations at boerneradio.com - and we have a winner…Mr. Tom Shannon.
Here is was his wife Nancy Shannon said in her nomination: James Thomas Shannon...is raising 2 grandchildren . We've had Lilly since birth who's now 8 years old and (adopted her at the age of 4 years).. Bryson since birth and now he's 3 years old. He's the only father that they know and they adore him. He's teaching them gardening, fishing and how to be awesome kiddos among other things.
He's always playing and joking around with them and being attentive. He's also making sure they feel safe and loved and is always there for them.
We first called Nancy Shannon who confirmed the story…

Boerne Officials confirmed yesterday that a raccoon tested positive for rabies at Boerne City Lake. It was picked up by Boerne Animal Care Services after park visitors reported it behaving unusually. Supervisor Stefanie Fisher said to always report any suspicious wildlife behavior, and to avoid all contact with wild animals.
If you see any crazy wildlife around Main Plaza this weekend, it’s just the Das Festival Stein holding contest.
To our Fair Oaks Folks, the construction for the Fair Oaks Parkway mill and overlay project has been delayed due to weather conditions. Originally the northbound lane of Fair Oaks Parkway between Pimico and Dietz Elkhorn was supposed to be closed through today, but circumstances have delayed the construction until further notice.
