Headlines: Groundbreaking ceremony at Adler Road/City Of Boerne Hiring/The Abendkonzerte featuring the Boerne Village Band tonight @main plaza/Independence Day Fireworks show at 9 pm
It’s Tuesday July 1st.
A month named in honor of Julius Caesar. Before it was July it was called Quin-Tillis, being the 5th month of a 10 month calendar. It is national hot dog month...national ice cream month…and National garlic month.
The City of Boerne held a groundbreaking ceremony last week at Adler Road to mark major improvements to the roadway. The first improvement will be the replacement of two culverts – one at Currey Creek and one at No Name Creek. Whenever we are blessed with rain-these two sections are routinely flooded and impassable. The new culverts will be much larger drainage structures and will be paid for by the federal government as part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
Yesterday we mentioned that Boerne ISD is hiring, well so is the City of Boerne. If you look on the Employment Opportunities page on the Boerne website you’ll find they need a Service Worker in the Parks and Rec Department, a Street Service Worker, Water and Wastewater Service Worker, and a good ol’ fashion Police Officer.
Tonight, grab a lawn chair and find a shady spot in Main Plaza for a Boerne tradition—the Abendkonzerte featuring the Boerne Village Band. Music begins at 7:30 with classic German tunes, local stories from Boerne’s early days, and yes—you’re welcome to Polka.
And looking ahead to the 4th, we want to remind you that fireworks are not allowed within the city limits of Boerne and Fair Oaks. However, the Boerne Independence Day Fireworks show will be lighting up at 9 pm, and should last 15 to 20 minutes. And for our friends a little further south, the Fair Oaks Ranch Fourth of July event will take place at the Country Club at 9 pm. And in Comfort the celebration starts early with the kids bicycle parade at 9:30 in the morning, followed by the big Independence Day Parade staring on High Street at 10, picnic in the park, vendors, pie eating contest, and a great silent auction.
