The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department posted some powerful pictures of the trained divers in the Guadalupe who are encountering snakes, insects, and other dangers as they clear layers of debris off the surface of the river, and then once it’s cleared the divers will gear up and search the bottom below the surface. God bless these heroes, and if you see first responders in your local restaurant, you know what do.
FEMA warned all flood victims and survivors involved to be alert of con artists and criminals stealing IDs and making fraudulent claims using names, addresses and socials. If a FEMA inspector contacts you and you did not submit and application, let them know and it’ll will stop there. Also don’t believe anyone who promises a disaster grant money in return for payment of fees. FEMA inspectors will never ask for payment or banking information. If you suspect fraudulent activity, contact the police or sheriff’s department, and the Texas Attorney General Consumer Hotline is 800-621-0508.
