It is Friday October 11th.

And born on this date in 1884 was Eleanor Roosevelt - She served as First Lady of the United States during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office and known for her support of civil rights.  And did you know that her maiden name was Roosevelt - FDR and her were 5th cousins once removed as her Uncle Theodore Roosevelt walked her down the aisle in 1905 just 13 days after he began his presidency.

Three Juniors at Geneva High School were named as 2024 Regional Scholars for the Classic Learning Test, which is a standardized exam that combines knowledge and virtue. Brady Chandler, Samuel Crews and Jonathan Taylor were within the top 5% of test takers in the region. Crews and Taylor were also named CLT10 National Award Recipients because they were in the top 50 scores in the country! Taylor claimed the top spot at Geneva, but both of them were awarded $2500 each.

The Boerne City Council meeting occurred a couple nights ago and here are some of the highlights. The Council accepted the donation of a bronze sculpture by Bryden and Kay Moon called The Runner that’s approximately 5 feet tall of a girl stretching before a run to be displayed in Boerne City Park.   Its estimated value is about $40,000.  Parks and Recreation Director Lisette Jimenez presented the council with improvements to be made to Toepperwein Rd. including a revised parking lot, road widening and drainage elements. She also discussed the work going to be done on Northside Community Park. 

And a reminder this weekend is the Rod Run so Main Street will be blocked off between Blanco and River Road and around the Main Plaza and the Courthouse pretty much all day on Saturday between 6am and 5pm -
