Boerne Radio News - Friday, June 27, 2025

View descriptionShare

It’s Friday, June 27th.

And a special Happy Birthday to my friend Leigh Nash - an artist you hear on Boerne Radio with her band Sixpence None the Richer.  Leigh Nash lives and records in Nashville but was born and raised in New Braunfels.  Sixpence will be at Gruene Hall on July 10th.

So it was huge week for Hill Country Family Services, their blood drive went well with 18 donors, including Chamber President Kim Blohm, 100 pounds of food were also collected for their pantry, and we crossed the finish line with our huge goal with that matching challenge from the Kronkosky Foundation.  But last night in the Richter Studio was a special gathering to honor CEO Staci Almager who’s passing the torch to Bryce Boddie.  Boerne Chief of Police Steve Perez spoke not only about her accomplishments, but also about the many things she has done that nobody knows about, and Sheriff Al Auxier honored her as well.

Well done, good and faithful servant, Staci Almager.

Community members, TxDOT, and elected officials came together on Wednesday evening to discuss major mobility projects that impact Boerne and the surrounding region. Those that attended received updates on key projects and had the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. If you missed the meeting you can still pitch in your ideas on how the $256 million in transportation funding should be spent for next year, with the top projects being Herff Road and 46, Old San Antonio Road and several sidewalk upgrades.  We have a link to leave your feedback in our news blog at BoerneRadio.com

Also this past week the Boerne Streets Department officially started their summer chip seal program and began working on School Street. Other projects on the docket- Scenic Loop, Watts Oak Lane, Cherry, and Cedar Street.

And with some breaking traffic news lets check in with Boerne Radio’s Traffic Director Dusty Rhodes…come in Dusty!
