Headlines:  Construction on School Street & Johns Road / Fireworks Safety Tips from BVFD / Chanukah Celebration in Main Plaza

The City of Boerne and the Utility Department will be conducting two separate projects on School Street over the coming days. There will be necessary utility work on the lines near the intersection of Johns Road and School Street, and traffic control will be set up on various sides of the intersection, so please drive with caution in the area. Additionally, crews will be rebuilding a section of School Street over Cibolo Creek to address damage caused by the current pitch and elevation of the roadway, so there will be a full closure from Johns Road to W. San Antonio Street. Residents and local traffic in the area will still have access while the construction is ongoing, which will begin this Monday.

The Boerne Fire Department has a few reminders for you. Although the burn ban is lifted in Kendall County, fireworks are a different story. In 2022, fireworks caused an estimated 10,200 injuries and started 31,000 fires nationally. The Boerne Fire Department put together a safety video for the New Year on its Facebook page. 

Tomorrow in Main Plaza is the annual Boerne Chanukah Celebration at 5:30.  It’s free and open to the public, and will include live music from the Pertnears. You’ll enjoy traditional sufganiyot between a beignet and a jelly donut, refreshments and chocolate gelt, and celebrate religious freedom in Texas. "Le'Chaim!
