It’s Friday December 19th…just 12 days left in 2025…
And it was on this date in 1843 that a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was published.
The first run of 6000 copies sold out by Christmas Eve, and if you’d like a copy for your collection, it can be found for around $75,000. There is a surviving copy at the New York Public Library that was created by Dickens himself.
Yesterday the Boerne Police Department hosted Shop with a Cop at the Boerne Walmart. Three special kids got 15 seconds to fill their carts with as many toys as they could grab with the help of local law enforcement and first responders. Each kid walked away with hundreds of dollars in NERF guns, legos and barbies, ringing in Saturday’s Blue Santa Giveaway at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office off of Adler.
The Boerne Life broke the news that Boerne is about to get a dedicated VA Clinic. A filing was just submitted with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation for a Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic on Water Street, just behind the traffic circle near Sauced Wing Bar and REMAX. It is estimated to cost about 12.3 million, with construction beginning in February and finishing in August of ‘27.
And for our friends in Fair Oaks Ranch, City Hall, the Municipal Court and the Police department will be closed after 3 today. Although it might seem like a long weekend, staff will actually be participating in staff development for the remainder of the afternoon.
