It’s Friday February 7th. 

And born on this date in 1867, the author of books that inspired the TV Series Little House on the Prairie - Laura Ingalls Wilder.  She was a descendant of the Delano family in the same line as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She was also the 7th great granddaughter of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.  She passed away 3 days after her 90th birthday in 1957, buried next to her husband Almanzo.

The Boerne Police Department held its annual award ceremony on Wednesday and several officers and dispatchers were awarded for their service. Officer of the year was Officer Eric Gomez, who is the current School Resource Officer at Fabra Elementary. Dispatcher of the year was given to Danielle Reeh, and Officer Cpl. David Chavez came home with two awards, Supervisor of the Year and Fit for Duty Male. Fit for duty female was awarded to School Resource Office Ryan Cook, and Top Gun went to Sgt. Douglas Meuth.

Hill Country Family Services has finalized their wish list for the month of February for their Corner Cupboard Food Pantry.  This month the pantry is hoping for reusable shopping bags, dish soap, small cans of ground coffee, fresh oranges and apples, jelly and refried beans, so if you have room in your shopping cart, keep our dear friends at Hill Country Family Services in mind…Hill Country Family Services is on Advogt off North Main.  And don’t forget to shop at Random Hangers or donate to the thrift store.
