It’s Friday - August 5th

And it was on this date in 1861 that the federal income tax was born.

United States PresidentAbraham Lincoln signs into law a 3% tax on incomes over $800.

That law was repealed...but then it was replaced with another income tax in 1862.

Cibolo Creek Elementary has announced their School Resource Officer…it’s Officer Ryan Cook.  She has served one year on patrol with the Boerne Police Department and has also worked in the Criminal Investigations Division with the Boerne PD for six years before joining the police force.  Fun fact, her favorite holiday is Halloween.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office released their July report with some good numbers to talk about.  A huge drop in crime numbers…in July of 2021 there were 96 crimes ranging from assault, larceny, and narcotics…this past month only 33.  There were 9 more arrests last month than in July of 2021 with 44 - mostly misdemeanors.  Last year there were 65 accidents managed by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in July, and this past July only 39 so good job drivers.

There were 109 more citations than last year, but there were 299 more warnings this year.  You can find the full report on the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
