Headlines:  1968 MLK’s Final Speech / Das Greenhaus Hiring / River Road Closed / Masonic Fish Fry and Blood Drive Saturday / Ambleside School Voucher Promotion

It’s Thursday April 3rd.

And it was on this date in 1968 that Martin Luther King would make his last speech.

Audio: MLK

He was assassinated the day after.

I’m Baron Wiley.

On the front page of The Boerne Star yesterday was a story on the place where The Boerne Radio business office is…Das Greenhaus on Upper Balcones…right behind the Starbucks and Boerne Church of Christ.  They are searching for a brand-new leader after the departure of its program director Justin McKenzie after two years since opening their doors. Das Greenhaus is a business incubator aimed at temporarily housing and nurturing startups with an end-goal of bringing strategic businesses into our city and Kendall County.  McKenzie who began this mission 6 years ago will remain with the company in a volunteer role.

In case you were wondering why River Road was closed yesterday between Pecan and Plant Street, the Boerne Police were working with Verizon on a utility wire in the area and needed to shut down the road to ensure everyone’s safety. The road reopened at noon, just in time for the lunch rush at Pinchy’s, The Dodging Duck, and the new buildout of Sunny’s All-Day Brunch and Bar.

The Kendall Masonic Lodge #897 will be hosting its annual Fish Fry Fundraiser and Blood Drive this Saturday from 11:30 to 2P.M. Come by and help yourself to a heaping plate of catfish, fries, hushpuppies with desserts provided by the ladies of The Order of the Eastern Star #200. Plates are available for dine in or to go for a $15 dollar donation or for free with a donation of life to the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center Blood Mobile. Kendall Masonic Lodge is on East Blanco between the Post Office and The Boerne Community Theatre.
