It’s Tuesday April 15th and it’s Income Tax Day or IRS Appreciation Day. 

And also a very happy birthday to San Antonio native Heloise of Hints from Heloise.

Congratulations to the Champion High School Theatre Department, who was named the 5A Region 4 Area Champions over the weekend. The team finished the area UIL One-Act Play Contest with four individual honors. Marlowe Cooper was named top technician, Jake Jaime was named Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, Aiden Cooper was All-Star Cast and Riley Meyer was best performer. The group is now ranked among the top 24 5A theatre programs in the state. 

Also yesterday Boerne Radio’s own weather veteran Jacque F. DuBose competed in the Heart of the Hill Theatre Competition and metalled in Theatre Tech for Sound Board and Lights!  We asked Jacque F. DuBose how it felt.

The Boerne Parks and Rec department utilized an incredibly large crane on Friday to install a new public restroom in Kinder Park. The entire structure had to be lifted above the canopy but eventually settled into its new home below the trees. The facility itself will be closed for a couple weeks as crews make utility connections and install an accessible ramp, but the park is open as always. Once the final touches are put on it, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony in early May. 

Yesterday there was a groundbreaking for the new Boerne Emergency Room hosted by the Boerne Chamber of Commerce.  It’s on Gallant Fox Lane and Herff Road between Main and Old San Antonio Road.  Thursday there will be celebrations for Martini and Company at 11:30 and for J. Fox Custom Jewelry at 1:30.
