Boerne Radio Coaches Show Live at 28 Songs: 2026 Boerne Little League Coaches on the Road to Williamsport

Live from 28 Songs Brew House & Kitchen on Boerne Radio 103.9 FM, host Esteban Serrano welcomes 2026 Boerne Little League coaches Rusty Belden, Greg Yost, and Josh Cude to discuss their team’s postseason run to Williamsport, including the district-to-sectionals-to-state-to-Waco path and the pressure, pitching decisions, preparation, and resiliency that defined the season. The coaches describe the Southwest Regional in Waco—where they lost game one and became the first team ever to still win the tournament—then share what Williamsport was like for the boys, from the parade, media days, and community support to friendships with other teams and a Sunday devotional with Phoenix City, Alabama. They highlight players’ contributions, plug Nov. 1 Boerne Little League signups and sponsorships, and close with live prize drawings at 28 Songs.

And it was on this date in 1962 that President John F. Kennedy addressed the nation and announced a naval quarantine of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis — one of the tensest moments of the Cold War.

According to the Boerne Star, more than 2,100 Kendall County voters made their way to the polls on Monday to cast their ballots on the first day of early voting which is already more than 5% of registered voters. There is only one local race on the ballot which is the Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1 but it’s the state races that voters excited with over 19 million registered voters, a record for Texas.

A software error has caused a problem with Texas Registration logs however, causing voters who were attempting to update their records to enter an extra address validation. This led to many updated records incomplete and missing the address all together. This latest issue arises only days after Texas election officials said they cleared an earlier voter registration backlog, and was caused by a software update for the Texas Department of Public Safety-as of now more than 500,000 registration since last October have been impacted.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is warning local meat markets and businesses about a scam involving large phone orders. Investigators say a man calling himself “Brian” places large meat orders, pays a deposit with a fraudulent credit card, then picks up the order before the business discovers the payment is invalid. Businesses are being urged to verify large phone orders and credit card payments before releasing merchandise. Anyone with information should contact the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office at 830-249-9721.

Tomorrow night may be the biggest football game of the season so far for the Champion Chargers. Champion and Smithson Valley are both 7-and-0 heading into Friday night’s showdown at Ranger Stadium.  We will be carrying that game right here on Boerne Radio. Kickoff is at 7 o’clock but Fired Up Friday starts at 5.

And it’s Homecoming Week at Boerne High School. Tonight, the Greyhounds host their Fall Orchestra Concert, and tomorrow night the unbeaten football team welcomes Veterans Memorial for the annual Homecoming game. The Homecoming Barn Dance follows Saturday night.

And congratulations to the Boerne High Band and Color Guard, which earned Superior ratings at the Regional Marching Contest and advances to the Area round Saturday morning at D.W. Rutledge Stadium.

Champion heads to Smithson Valley - will air live on Boerne Radio

Champion Boys Water Polo to play in state semis tomorrow

UIL votes on three specific things making headlines that affects upcoming academic years

Thursday October 22, 2026

Boerne Radio Sports is brought to you by The Boerne Star and protected by The Carlson Law Firm.

Make sure to tune in tomorrow to Boerne Radio as we will have the FOOTBALL GAME OF THE YEAR for Boerne ISD - Champion travels east to Smithson Valley High School. Just some trivia… while Smithson Valley has three-straight state title appearances and two-straight title wins, the last time they actually lost a game was September 4, 2025 when they played Brennan. Champion is off to their best season since 2010 when they also started 7-0. It can be done… The champion could defeat the Rangers, but it will take a lot. 5pm tomorrow gets us started for Fired Up Friday, and then pregame at 6:30. The Greyhounds take on Vets Memorial in their homecoming game… which will air in its entirety on Texas Sports Productions.

Champion boys water polo will also play a big game tomorrow at 1:30. Against Clear Creek in San Antonio, they play in the state semifinals. If they win, they’ll play for a state title Saturday.

Making headlines across the state in the UIL - their fall meeting took place Monday. Three big things were discussed and passed. In all sports starting in 2027, every high seed will have home field or court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Also on the docket, starting in 2028, a 35-second shot clock will be implemented for boys and girls basketball. Finally, girls flag football will be piloted in 2028. These are three big moves in advancing the sports formats and selections for Texas high schools. More info to come as we inch closer to those timelines.
