Well, as you’ve likely heard by now, the Greyhounds are moving on to the regional final next week for a chance to go to Dell Diamond for the state tournament the following week. 

Boerne wins with a hefty 1-0 victory to sweep Bishop. Jackson Grimes on the bump threw 94 pitches and a 1-hitter to complete the shutout. Once again, Hutson Hendrix -  proving why he is probably one of the most, if not THE most valuable player for Boerne offensively. 

And down near the coast, we have word that Calallen is the winner of the series against Needville on the other side of the bracket as they sweep, and so that settles it - Boerne and Calallen will battle for a spot in the 4A state tournament. A series we will carry here on Boerne Radio - stay with us on-air and on social media for times, venues, and dates once they become available. 

And here’s another interesting piece of information, well, rather history - exactly 20 years ago in 2004, Boerne and Calallen met with the same stakes involved in the regional final that year - how will this time around go for these Greyhounds? We shall find out in the coming week.

How about them Greyhounds?! As heard here on Boerne Radio, game 1 from Jourdanton between Boerne and Bishop didn’t disappoint for the Boerne fans. 

A monster inning in the 3rd, and it all started with Hutson Hendrix…

Boerne would get hot and score 7 runs total in that inning, then picking up again in the 5th inning with 1 run, and in the 7th with 4. Boerne would win 13-3, holding Bishop to 3 runs on 6 hits, while Boerne landed their 13 runs on 17 hits and no errors… It was just a swinging festival for the Greyhounds. Campbell Jackson pitched every frame, threw for 7 strikeouts and pitched his exact limit of, you guessed it, 110.

It’s Friday May 24th. 

And today is Bob Dylan’s 83rd birthday. And a few songs that maybe you didn’t know were written by Bob Dylan include  “Make You Feel My Love”  sung by Adele and Garth Brooks, “If Not For You” recorded by George Harrison, Wagon Wheel, and Toxic by Britney Spears….Ok maybe not Toxic.

There has been a massive local scam involving the Boerne Municipal Pool wherein a fraudulent individual has claimed to invite 2,000 people to a community event. The scammer has been asking vendors for payment in order to get a spot at the pool and was only found out when a business owner that had already paid called the City in order to confirm the event was legitimate. The Boerne staff called the police, who are now investigating the scam. If you have any information or have been affected by the scam, please call the Boerne PD non-emergency line at (830) 249-8645. 

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Foundation has announced their statewide finalists, and four Boerne administrators have made the cut! Among these are the Principals of Champion and Boerne High, Dr. Beto Hinojosa and Shane Wilson respectively, and Boerne Middle School North Counselor Rachel Franco, and Fabra Counselor Danni Vinyard. Huge honor.

Monday is Memorial Day, and government offices around Boerne will be closed in observance of the holiday. This includes the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, City Hall, the Post Office and the Patrick Heath Library. What else is closed this weekend? 1604 and I-10 of course, so stay vigilant and try to avoid the area if at all possible.
