It’s Wednesday July 30th.
And it was on this day in 1956 when the phrase "In God We Trust" is adopted as the official U.S. motto. It was first used on coins in 1864 and began appearing on paper money almost 100 years later in 1957.
The Kendall County Office of Emergency Management held their press conference yesterday afternoon to discuss the next steps in the flood recovery process, and here are some of the highlights. Flood cleanup officially begins today and will last up to 10 weeks-operating 7 days a week from 7 am to 6 pm. Cleanup will begin in the West most zone of Kendall County and will slowly move East over the coming weeks, so expect traffic delays and detours in the zones being worked on. For property owners-if you can safely move debris to the edge of your property, the removal team will pick up debris free of charge. The debris must be separated into the following categories- electronics, large appliances, hazardous waste, vegetative debris, and construction debris. If you have any questions, you can call the debris removal hotline at 830-217-28-90.
For our Fair Oaks Folks, Fog Seal operations continue. Today through tomorrow the city will be working on Equestrian Drive, meaning the northbound traffic will be rerouted. There will be signage to navigate your morning and evening commutes, but if you can, avoid the area to prevent delays to your day.
The numbers are officially in… Doing the math, 1000 tickets were sold for $1000 which only equals $1Million. 6.25 million dollars were raised at the George Strait Concert on Sunday…featuring other artists like William Beckmann, Ray Benson and Wade Bowen and surprise guest Garth Brooks. With all the money benefiting families affected by the floods…And if you want to know the definition of Evil, this broadcaster knows a friend and partner of Boerne Radio that bought tickets from a broker and was scammed out of $10,000. Pure evil…
Boerne Radio News is brought to you by The Boerne Star, and by something holy…Boerne Radio’s Pastors Master’s Golf Tournament at Tapatio Springs — where sponsors like Texas Heritage Bank, Brady’s Auto Repair & Diesel and Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center make it possible for pastors to play free — these are also unsung first responders who take midnight calls and help heal wounded souls. If you’d like to play you’re welcome to, and last call for sponsors - your sponsorship helps us pay for the pastors play, get a great lunch, and Pastor Ray Jones formerly of Community Bible Church will have an encouraging word.
Call me…and we have all the details on the front page at BoerneRadio.com.
