Bob’s been the king of morning talk in Frederick for 30+ years, holding down the WFMD fort for 27 of them. A proud Frederick County native, his roots run deep—son of the legendary local vet Doc Miller, raised on a 180-acre beef farm, and yes, he really did show cattle across the country. (Moo included.)

His resume is impressive, his humor even better. Senior class president and class clown at Walkersville High (Class of 1980), Bob also helped launch the school’s first-ever football team—the gritty “Mean 19.”

Off the mic, Bob’s a proud husband to Lynda (30+ years strong), a dad to Erin and Bryan, and a super-proud granddad to little Kaelyn.

Bob’s known radio was his calling forever, with stops at major stations in Baltimore and D.C. But Frederick is home, and every morning he brings his voice, wit, and community-first perspective to Free Talk 930 WFMD. He’s joined by great local guests all week to cover what’s happening in and around Frederick County, plus national reporters from Fox News Radio to break down what’s happening across the country.

Bob Miller was joined on the Morning News Express by Kelly Jarvis, Marketing Director and Personal Trainer at Soldierfit Frederick, to talk about a program that's helping people focus on improving their health from the inside out.

It's also a program that hits close to home for us — several members of the WFMD and WFRE staff are going through it themselves!

Kelly explained why the goal goes far beyond simply losing weight. The program focuses on improving your body at a metabolic level, helping participants better understand their overall health, build strength, improve fitness and make sustainable changes that can last.

She also talked about what participants can expect when they walk through the doors, why the program can work for people at different fitness levels, and how Soldierfit helps keep people motivated throughout the journey.

ICYMI: A Frederick County 9/11 Story — Michael Strawsbaugh Joins Bob Miller on the Morning News Express

On the 25th anniversary of September 11th, Bob Miller was joined by Michael Strawsbaugh, a former volunteer with the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Department, to share an incredible piece of Frederick County's connection to that tragic day.

After American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon, Woodsboro received an extraordinary call for help. The Pentagon needed the department's 1950s-era Mack Ladder Truck 16 because it was small enough to fit through a 10-foot entrance and into the Pentagon's inner courtyard. A crew from Woodsboro answered that call and headed for Washington.

Strawsbaugh shares what he remembers from September 11, 2001, how the Woodsboro volunteers became part of the massive response at the Pentagon, and the story of the old fire truck that became known as “the little truck that could.” The crew spent roughly 13 hours at the Pentagon helping contain the fire and working alongside first responders from across the region.

It's a powerful local story of service, courage and answering the call when our country needed help most — and one worth hearing again 25 years later.

With Drew Phelps filling in for Bob Miller, the Morning News Express welcomed Frederick Police Chief Kevin Meyer to discuss Friday night’s incident involving federal immigration officers in Frederick’s Taskers Chance neighborhood.

Chief Meyer explained the Frederick Police Department’s role when local officers respond to a scene involving federal authorities, including what the department can—and cannot—do during a federal immigration operation.

The conversation also addressed what residents should do if an immigration enforcement operation occurs in their neighborhood and what they should expect from Frederick police officers responding to the scene.

Meyer discussed how local officers work to maintain public safety, protect residents’ rights and avoid interfering with federal law enforcement activities.

He also explained what authority Frederick police officers would have if they witnessed actions by federal agents that appeared unsafe, excessive or potentially unlawful—and how he would expect his officers to respond.
