Happy Weekend! Abby and Morgan caught up on some life during this episode. Abby shared the latest on moving in with her boyfriend aka Cheese Head and what she’s having a hard time with in the situation. They both talk about their holiday break and share their favorite parts about 2024.
The Best Bits of the Week with Morgan, Part one behind a scene with a member of the show, Mary post Christmas. Everybody, welcome to the Best Bits. I'm joined this weekend by Abby. Abby Mary Related Christmas.
Oh ho, Mary related Christmas.
It feels weird saying no, because normally it's always our these Best Bits roll before the holidays, but because of how it falls this year, it's both after and so we're doing like post things, but we're also recording this before they even happened. So we're here.
Here, we are. We went into the future.
We did, We're and we're gonna think back on things that have happened that have not quite happened yet, but we're gonna. We're gonna figure it out because this is the Christmas edition of Best Bits. So Abby, talk to me about the holidays. What you've been doing.
What'd you go do over Christmas?
Yeah? The Christmas holiday? No, we haven't made it to New Year's yet.
I came home to Wichita and you did two? Yeah, we did. Who hung out with family? Of course? My boyfriend came home for the first time.
Okay, but he's a family.
The family, my parents like my mom and stepdad. But he has not met anybody else like my dad and stepmom, so my friends, I'm very excited.
Oh that's so exciting, I know. Are you freaking out at all?
Yeah?
A little? Yeah, yeah he was. He was only able to stay like a couple of days though.
So did you guys also do Christmas here in Nashville too? Yeah? Or playing to also? Sorry guys, if I say like here, my verbs are press present passed? Since what I roll with it?
Okay, we we did Christmas like before I left for home, so got itsas one.
Did you also visit his family?
No, I'm not. We're not gonna have time to do that. Sure, yeah, because he has kids. So he's here with his kids and it is going to stay here, and then that's why I get to go home a little longer.
But oh, how long have you do you plan to go home for?
I haven't even booked my flight back, honestly, so I don't know.
I don't know. I love that. I'm like asking the questions because it hasn't happened yet, and then you're answering in like the current or crushing this. Well, I think you have plans yeah for after Christmas? Yeah?
Like more to go somewhere, but I'm not. I'm just staying just hanging out out and then I gonna go back to Nashville.
So well, he'd be doing like his personal Christmas with his kids the whole time. Is that kind of what's happening? Got it? And yeah, you'll hang out with them for a little bit and then you'll get to go home, but he's getting also to come for a little bit. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, Well that's a navigating of holidays, there is. Yeah, I know, it's is that weird?
It is weird, Yeah, because I wish he could be like he could have been through talking on Christmas Day.
It's really hard, I know. Yeah. It's also I feel like a difficult thing when you're in a new relationship and all this is happening for the first time and you're starting to navigate, Okay, what are we gonna do. We're going to see your family, my family, are we spending it together? What's happening?
It really is weird, especially when it's like his family is in Wisconsin, and then mine's in Kansas, and then but then his kids and him and we live in Nashville. So yeah, it's just a lot of I don't know moving part trying to figure it out.
Yeah, what's your favorite thing when you go back for towitch job for the holidays? Like, is there anything you have to make sure you do while you're in town?
Oh? My gosh, what do I have to do? I mean I always just That's the thing is when I go back for Christmas, it's mostly just like seeing people. We don't really do a lot of the things that I want to, like botanica. Yeah, I used to love doing that. I just never have time anymore. Like do you go to that?
Yeah? How do you not have time? Just make all the people you want to see go with you.
I know, it's they just it's too hard. Like getting my friends together. I always try, Like all my high school friends are like, oh, we have a family dinner tonight or oh we're going to whatever tomorrow, Like it just it never works out. Maybe this year I'll try, yeah, before I go back. But it's always just like I have to see everybody, and we don't really do anything. Like my high school friends, they all bring their kids and husbands and we go like to brunch or something. So I love doing that totally fun.
Okay, See that's something where do you guy typically go to brund.
Chat home Man. It switches up every year, like home what is it? Homegrown homeground?
I love that place, the best best homemade pop hop pop tarts? Why not? Words are hard.
I always let them pick because they live in Wichita, and they're like, oh, I'm just like, just pick the newest, greatest place. So m I'm gonna try Belmont. Is that what it's called.
Belmont's really good. They have the Brusquetta flights and those are great, but that's obviously not brunch.
You know what I want? Well, you don't like coffee. You don't drink coffee, but I want to do like a coffee flight. Oh, I don't know how to. I don't know if they do.
I don't know if they do either. Check that out. We yeah, we do always do Botanica. That's always one we do as a family. We all go together, so that's like a family outing Christmas event. And then I always make sure to stop at Coca Dulce, which was at the Vegas Hotel foundin Blue that I went to by like a miracle. That's only other location besides whichta mm hmm.
Did it start in Wichitah yep, and so why is it in Vegas? Like that's wild.
So somebody wrote to me on Instagram and told me that the somebody who's invested in Fountain Blue, they said Coke is in Coke obviously Wichita related. Oh yeah, yeah, but I'm not sure the full connection or the full depth of that. That's just what somebody said. Coke, Cocaulce, Fountain Blue.
Millionaire, billionaire, millionaire, whatever.
Yeah, three things I got combined in that. But I always stopped there because they have such good hot chocolate. They do like different kinds and all like certain flavors or whatever. So I always have to go and get a hot chocolate from there, and I get a whole box with chocolates that either don't make it home or half make home, so I do that. I also love to go to Morts for the martini, and I did.
That last year. Yes, that was so fun.
The Monday night was like it's like a dollar, I don't know, it's super cheap and it's just so fun in there. And it's the whole patio is heated. It is very comfy and cozy. So that one and then I always try and see some of my friends. Friends from college sometimes come in town for their families. Another friends also sometimes come in town. But also it's just the time, much like you're saying, sometimes we like just miss each other.
I know it is so hard to get everybody together it once.
It is, it so is. And I make my play My family play a lot of board games. That's always a oh that's fun. Yeah, like drinking game. They're like, okay, more, what's what's game night? No, Like we play like legit the games, like we'll like throw throw Burrito this year, I'm gonna bring that along. Yeah, we'll do the swords game and like all all kinds. We'll also find some from that have like gone viral in the past year that you've seen, like the random games that people play at their Christmas. We'll do those.
Yeah, that's fun, suear.
We did like the bo one, the one with where you try to pick up as new bows as possible with this bachelor all that kind of stuff.
Those are fun. I've seen the ones where they like you draw, you get a number or something, and you pick what's under the cup or and then they're the number under the cup is your prize, and that looks so cool. And it's so easy.
Yeah, it's just somebody has to organize those.
Is that the thing? Are you the organizing?
No? Uh, Taylor, my sister and I sometimes are, but also one of my older sisters. Last year also did the saran Wrap ball where you basically put a bunch of gift cards and like alcohol and like you have to pass it around and try and open it with uh myts on. Oh that's funny, and you're trying to get their strand up and get as many as you can because that's what you get is your prize. So we did that one here. Two so cool, all kinds of random games.
I want to go ice skating. I have which I think a chicken and pickle. Oh they had it last year. I think they put up like a ice skating rink.
Like that's over on your boogie side of town.
Yeah, I don't know your side. Sorry, Hey, when you go everything you said you want, oh no, not really, it was like everything you said you wanted to do is kind of on my side.
No coc there's a Coca Doul chain maze. There's Botanica is in like downtown, so that's in between both of us and games around my house. What was the other days?
There was the other you said, would you say, oh, Morts, Morts's downtown, downtown in between.
Okay, that's that's where I don't cross. You know, Downtown is the right. I'm just kidding. I love both sides. It's just funny to give you our time.
You too. Chicken and Pickle, that's where it's at. It's fun there. Yeah, they have like Christmas theme drinks and do.
You don't you play pickleball in the winter? Oh?
Man, well it's inside, yeah, half of them are inside. I think so then yeah, I need to go.
I am in a chick chick hole, chick chickle, pickle, Chicken and a pickle in a hot minute.
Really, yeah, it's fun. I haven't either, so check that out.
Maybe we should meet up at Chicken and a Pickle.
We should, we should.
We can't meet any of our friends, but we can hang out.
Yeah, if there's no one that's answering or like, I can't okay, see you.
There, backup, I know, I know what I read. Yeah that was funny. I know.
It's like if it's more that like see each other all the time, so exactly, we could like hang out here and we still don't.
We have dried on different occasions. We have tried. It's it's chaotic, especially now with you having your boyfriend, which, by the way, got all kinds of questions. And we're gonna take a little break here in Tennant and then we're gonna come back, and you have to tell me if you guys are like living together and stuff, because that's that's the thing we need. That's the update.
Well that's a big, big thing, I know.
Okay, So quick break and we'll be right back. And we're back from the break. That was such a good tease.
Look at me, girl. We are just pros at this, all right, Abby?
Are you guys living together? What's happening? Did it happen yet? We are?
Actually not, He's asked me so many times, and I I'm just one that I've been used to being on my own. Like it's just like a slow process because I own my own house and he owns his, and they are on completely opposite sides of town and my drive right now, I'm pretty close to work. He has kids. It's just a lot, like it's a lot in my life. And I know the change is big, and I know like it needs to happen for things to progress. But it's just like I think at the beginning of the year is when we're going.
To So has your reluctancy to it changed at all and now you're just like finding the right timing for it or do you feel like you still have the reluctancy and timing just hasn't been right yet either. All of it's still kind of there.
I think it's just more like I get so overwhelmed when I think about it, and like me having a fully furnished, like three bedroom house and like a guest room for people to stay in, and I'm just like what am I going to do with all this? And I don't want to sell my house and I'm scared to rent it out because I some people are just like really rough. I'm like, I've taken so good care of my house and like I just don't want it to get trashed. But I'm like abby, like this is life, you know. I'm trying to just be like that's what happens in life, don't You're not going to like stay in your house forever by yourself.
Okay, But this is a situation where two things are true. One you love your house. You want to stay there, and you want your life to be what it is like you've you've created this life for yourself and you love it like that is true. The other side of this is it's also true is that you would like to live with him, and you would like to progress in this relationship and you would like to see where it continues to go, and that next step is living together and what all comes with that. Both of those are true and neither one is wrong. So you have to, you know, remember that it's okay to be feeling both of those things right, although hard because you will have to make a decision and you are going to have to kind of let go of some now hopefully. The goal in all of that, though, is that while you may be letting go of your house in some capacity, whether it's living there, selling it, whatever, like you, the way that you're going to feel comfortable in that is like, how are you going to be able to be you in the new space? Right?
Yeah? And I mean that's what I told him too. I'm like, I'm going to need to bring some of my stuff, you know, to like make it feel like home. And he also agrees, like he's like, I want you to feel like you're at home, Like I don't want you to feel out of place. But that's how I've always been when I'm at someone else's house, you know. I'm just like I feel more comfortable in my kitchen, I can just get out anything when I'm at his house, like or whatever. I'm just like, oh, can I get this? He's like, why are you asking me? Like, I don't know. I just that's how I always am. Yeah, I just don't like to make anybody think I'm I don't know. I don't even know.
Okay, God is so question? Is there? I mean, and you know, I know the housing markets insaying, and it's Nashville and whatever. Is there the ability for you guys to just buy a new house together, and maybe it's somewhere in between. And then now both of you have to give something up, and you're also giving up the areas of town you live in collectively, and it's more of this kind of team versus maybe right now where you feel like, oh, I'm giving up everything mm hmm, and not in a bad way like you want to, but you're like, this also feels like a lot, like I'm giving up all of.
This now that is possible. His kids, he wants them to stay where they are in that school district. So that's the thing that is a little different. I mean, I like where he lives a lot. It's just farther out and more like family base, which, like I said, it's like a huge change for me because I'm used to just being like Okay, I'm ready to go out, like but I love it, like I love it. I love him and like his kids. They're just so cute. So yeah, it's whole.
Life just changed beyond just like you moving in with a boyfriend. Yeah, there's a lot with that.
But I'm almost ready for it almost. I was just like, let me get through the craziness of the holidays because I'm already feeling overwhelmed with everything, and after that we'll seriously think about it, because he's like I'm gonna like be there and help you do all this, you know, it's not like you're just like on your own trying to figure everything out. Like I'm going to be there with you to make it easy. And we're like a t and.
So, which is awesome, and it sounds like he's been like great about the whole process but also completely understandable that you need some time to in a way like mourn your old life that you're kind of leaving behind to go into this new one, which is one that you want. It's exciting, it's it is what you want, but you're having to like kind of shed the old layers and like say goodbye and hap into this new version of what your life is about to be.
Yeah, but it's exciting.
It's exciting and scary. It's both.
Yeah, it really is. It's crazy, it's weird.
So none of those feelings just you know, all those feelings are normal. Yeah, I should know that.
Okay, I know I am always thinking this. I'm like, it is just crazy how a year it could change, Like in a year, and I know, you know other people that may seem like a long time, like maybe you move in sooner, maybe you wait, But I'm just like, for me, it's crazy that in a year or something like that could change.
Yeah, so much, like so much of your life is changing. Yeah, but again all in the best way. And sometimes I'm pretty sure Bobby's the one who says this, the things that are most exciting often make you feel the most scared. So it makes sense that this is how you're feeling, because this feels right, this is what you want. You just are like, Okay, you might have to like bry this from my dead hands because and I personally can't. I have not been in your position, so I don't know. These are all just me assumptions based on how I know you, but also that I think naturally it gets really hard when you've cultivated your own life and you've created things for yourself because you stopped waiting, you stopped waiting for what was to come, and just like started existing and loving what you had, and you've done that so well that I could see how that would be really hard to just say, okay, I guess by you.
Know it is. I think any change, like even with a job. I remember before I started here, I was like terrified because I was so I had my last job for five years and I was just so set in my ways, my lifestyle of that job, and then going here it's like complete opposite, like work hours and everything. I was so scared, but it ended up being one of the best things ever, you know, So it's like, I think you just can't be like scared to jump, just make the jump. And that's where I am right now, like I'm on top of that. I'm on top of the whatever about to jump.
Yeah you are, You're on your Hollywood sign right now, and you're ready to jump off.
I know, it's just crazy something you will.
You will in time. Some people can just leap with no you know, they can leap with a blindfold on, and others need to see everything and know what's all waiting for them at the bottom. So I think that's okay.
Thank you. Oh yeah, I'm not.
Sure it helped so because I'm sure you're still like feeling all of that, and those feelings are different than like getting them confirmed if you will.
Yeah, no, but that was a good little therapy session I need to do. So thank you.
I'm excited for you. I'm excited for what's to come in your next chapter. I think twenty twenty five is gonna be really fun for you. Which speaking of what was your favorite part of twenty twenty four, Oh.
My gosh, I would honestly say, like meeting my boyfriend. Like I remember before him, I was just not I wasn't doing well, Like I was very lonely a lot, and I was like I don't know how much more of this I can take. Like I was just like very sad a lot because I was like, I feel like there's something missing. I have everything else in my life that I want, like my job, all these fun things to do with my friends, but there was just something missing that made me feel not like complete, but just not so alone. And I feel like he brought that into my life because I was like, I have so much love to give, but there's no I can't give it to anybody, you know, like a lot of my family, Yes I can, but they're also in Kansas, so that's hard too. And I was like in Nashville, I just want like somebody to love and for them to love me back. And I was like, why can I not find that? And I finally I feel like I did. And that's why this year I feel like I wasn't lonely, Like I learned a lot about like myself. And yeah, so I think I's it like being able to love somebody, which is a big thing because it is I've never had that, Like I've never told a guy I love him, because it was such a huge deal to me to not just throw it around.
And so and you did you have told him, right? Yes, we talk about that. I think you have, but I was just confirming.
Yeah I have. So it's just a lot of like getting out of your comfort zone.
I think this year you've had a big You've had a big change in your life, and it's it's the hits keep coming. I know in a good way. They're good hits. They're like love taps.
Yes, it's like a one eighty life for in one year. Like I just said, like this time last year, I was just well, I met him like mid October.
So yeah, but you were headed into it. You didn't know what was to come, what we he would be, what it would look like. Yeah, so crazy.
Yeah, Okay, that's.
A really good one. I have another one that I'm I'll all share next week with Scuba because I'm doing it with both because they're both were like end of year times. But you know, I feel like I have progressed so far professionally this year, which wasn't really on my radar, not in like a way that I was like, Okay, this is the year I'm going to do this, this and this and this has to happen or whatever. I mean. I always feel super driven. You and I both have those qualities. I think that's the the Wichita cans in in US or just Canson. We're super hard workers and just really driven. So that was never not there. But this year, for some reason, just feels like it was a catalyst to something else that's coming. And I don't know what that is. I'm zero clue, but launching my podcast and doing a lot of work trips and just trying new things, taking whatever opportunity comes, and especially like when I went through the breakup and being like, oh, this is what I thought was going to be like my new life, and then was it And then it was like the universe literally directed was like no, actually, you gotta focus on this because something's coming. It's kind of what it felt like after that all happen. So twenty twenty four was like a huge year of growth for me professionally.
I love that, And I mean I could see it too for sure. Thank you, Like and you can tell like you're passionate about what you do and you love it, and that's I feel like you are like on your right path and everything does happen for a reason obviously, And I mean sometimes even me like I'm like, oh, having a boyfriend, like it's hard to go out of town and you know, do other things or whatever. But it's like you you just like full on it, like let's go like traveling everywhere.
And yeah, I think we're sending it this year for sure.
Yeah, which I agree. I think is like something in the future, whatever it may be, like this leads to it.
Yeah, and that's what I'm like hopeful for and I have like, you know, I have no intentions of ever leaving the show. I love this job. All these other things are just really things I'm passionate. But I love traveling. I love having honest conversations. You guys have heard it on Best Bits. We have therapy sessions just kind of like what we add and evolving just all of those different skills. So it has been just an interesting year in a lot of ways that I just didn't see a lot of things coming and how impactful they were going to be. So I think that was my favorite part of twenty twenty four this year. I have others, but I'll share that other one with Scuba Bute, so if you have another one, you can share it too.
That's okay, I just had that one too. I feel like that's it. Okay, that's right, Yeah, because I put my singing and stuff. Well, the thing is is he is like very pushes me to try to write and like play guitar more, and I'm the one that's just like I don't really want you right now. I don't know what it is, okay.
But also you've had a crazier speaking of like professionally, you've taken on a lot of things this year in particular, maybe it was towards the end of last year that weren't a part of what you were doing originally. And so that being said, you do like this job, and you do love doing this right wrong enough for sure? Yeah, yeah, and you do love that, but like this, this is like your job for survival that you're also passionate about, and so it's taken more of your attention versus your music career, which is something you really want and you're passionate about, but like this took the front seat. I feel like this year.
Yeah, I feel like a big thing. Also is just like balancing, trying to balance because I want to be like the best I can be at everything, no matter what I do, and so I obviously I put this job first, and then I also my relationships. In the past, I was like working all the time and kind of putting relationships on the back burner and probably wasn't giving them like the most attention. Or I'd be like, I have to work and they're just like, oh my gosh, you always have to work, you know. And I do a lot of events because I was single, and I was like, I can do this now. But now that I have something that, you know, I really care about, it's important for me to also make sure he knows he's important and that he's on the front, like not on the back burner too, because guys have made me feel like that in the past, like I'm on the back burner and that's a terrible feeling. And I was like, I don't want to do that to somebody else. So I think, and there's not enough time in the day for me to do this, to be writing, playing guitar, singing out, trying to be there with him, like there's just a lot. So I'm trying to like prioritize and create balance. And I think that's something I want to work on, like next year too, is like just to create balance.
Yeah, And I think you know, as you guys do start to live together. It's definitely going to be a very major part of your twenty twenty five is like how do I do all this? How do I fit it all in? And again, how do I make me fit in this new world? Like what does that look like?
Yes?
Or like how do I adjust to this new world? You know however it sounds, But I think you can and you will, and you'll find ways to do things that you never thought possible. Like if there's anything that I've realized this year is that I am capable of so many things that I didn't think I could. You know, Like when I'm staying up at midnight and I'm editing my podcast and I'm like, oh my gosh, I need sleep. I'm so tired, I need, you know, and I'm drained. But then I put it out and I get the feedback, I'm like, Okay, it's worth it. Keep pushing, Like, just keep doing it. It's worth it. You will. You're gonna be exhausted. Your next year is going to be as amazing as it is also exhausting when you transition, I know, But like that just means take the naps whay you can when you go home, make sure you take a few naps, Yes, enjoy some relaxation before this big beginning starts, and you will find time even if it's Heck, if you're hanging out with his kids and you're sitting there writing songs and they're doing stuff, you know, you will find the time. I think right now it just feels very daunting and very overwhelming.
Yeah, it's just a lot. It is a lot, like just trying to figure out how to do it all. I guess, Oh, yeah, they don't listen. They don't teach you in high school.
Like, hey, by the way, you're gonna have to balance a social life, having kids, having your relationship, also going to a full time career, knowing how to keep up with your entire adult responsibilities of your home if you just have animals. Also that also keep yourself mentally healthy, oh physically healthy as well, cooking, eating food, surviving, doing your finances.
Like they learn none of that. Where was that class?
You don't learn any of it. But you also don't learn that, like the requirement to do all those things in mouss is literally inhuman, Like there is not a person unless we really have a legit superman on this planet that could do all of those things and do them all well all.
The time, but I think we feel like we have to. Yeah, we're like we do. Everybody else is doing it, why can't we. It's just everybody thinks that everybody's doing I was.
Gonna say, but that's the key nobody else. I know.
We think they are though, and we're like, oh, how do I do that they are?
But it's like it's just like with me this year, like my my profession became the big spot that was the focus, and all of my friends that were getting married and my sister getting married, like those were my priority use this year, and everything else kind of took a back burner, you know, And next year the same thing will happen. It'll probably shift, it'll be a different thing. That's life. That's like how it's actually supposed to work, because that's how you balance. It doesn't mean you're being bad at the other things. It means you're still doing them and utilizing them. It's just not your center focus because you can't have a center focus that has ten different things exactly.
Yeah, you can't, or you're going to be giving each of those like ten percent.
And you will literally end up in a hospital. Yeah, I know, you can't survive that way. We weren't meant to survive that way. We aren't even met to survive what we're doing right now, but somehow we're managing.
Yeah, how are we doing this? I'm just kidding, No, you know.
What I mean? Though, Like they were once upon a time, people were living off the land. There was no kinds of things that we did. They were naturally physically healthy, mentally healthy. They didn't have the the things that we have. They would cook easily, like there was community all the time. Things have evolved and changed, so which means we have to kind of forcively evolve and change them act if we want to feel good again.
I'm that crazy to think about how it's just kind of like in waves, like I feel like last year I focused more on my job and like singing and I released like well, I guess, hey, their hometown. That was like two years ago. But and then this year I just felt like it was more like my personal life and kind of like my health, like mental health and getting better and like doing the brain things that I'm doing to get myself on track, because I was started to feel like crazy, like I was just like I don't feel like myself. I don't know, and I'm trying to kind of get more like on a healthy path so that I can be better in like twenty twenty five, Like I haven't been on social media much, posted much.
Okay, hold on, take a pause, take a breakwak. I'm coming right back to that. Okay, Okay, you haven't been on social media much and you've been focused on mental health and stuff. Walk me through that a little bit more.
I don't know. I just feel like with social media when I post, I would get so just like caught up in people's feedback and like the positive and the negative and just worrying about what people think of my life. And I'm like, that's my life, you know, Like even though I am a little bit upset because like I take so many pictures and I've had so many good things happen this year, but I've posted. I think I've posted like five times total, and I'm like, you are so good at posting, And I'm always like, why can't I be like Morgan, like cause you're so good.
In all fairness, it is my job, so I bet I better be good at that.
It is true, But I just struggle with like just even captions and stuff like I just overthink everything.
I'm sorry, Abby, have you seen some of the captains I post sometimes, Like especially if I do like eight videos up one day, at some point somebody's probably reading. I'm like what is she even saye? Or like I'll make a caption on the Bobby Bone Show and and people are like what does that even mean? And I was like, guys, I'm trying.
To be cool. I'm trying to keep up with the times.
Like yeah, so I promise it's not it looks like I probably post a lot. I do a lot of things, and I do, but also like I struggled to come up with captains all the time.
Oh my gosh. But like going back to like the brain thing, I mean, Amy's the one that told me about it, and I was just feeling so like just clouded, like I couldn't think of things like easier. Trivia is easy, Trivia is a great example. I just can't pull things out of my brain. It's like what color is the sun? And I'm just like, oh, like I don't know what it was, And she basically it's like neuro feedback, and she was like, I bet every traumatic experience in your life is kind of like a pothole in your brain, okay, you know, and like even grief like losing a family member, just anything, and it kind of gets your Your brain waves are supposed to go one way, like, and when you have trauma, it starts going all different directions and you can't think clearly and you can't think like more efficiently. You can't think as of, hey, here we go.
Now, I'm like, oh no, it's okay.
But when she like stimulates the different parts of your brain, like I can tell it has been like helping me think more clearly and cool. Even athletes do it and like it even helps songwriters like write better and think better. And so I feel like that's kind of been helping me. So that was something I've been doing, like for my mental health. I'm trying to sleep more because I was not getting a lot of sleep. I mean there's still nights that I don't get enough. Like a few days ago, I got like three hours.
And were you like in bed or were you doing stuff?
And that's why a lot of it is like work. It's just like we're so busy, like leading up to the holidays, especially like we're just trying to get everything in. Like I'm doing podcast stuff and sometimes I can't fall asleep even when I'm laying in bed, So it's just a lot of that. So just trying to i don't know, be more healthy, eat better, get more sleep.
Well, it is like right, like that's the biggest thing because if you are healthy physically, mentally, everything, then everything else can't operate to any optimal place that it needs to be. You have to be functioning on that level. So but again it's hard to do because you have to go to appointments like for different things or whatever you may need, and you have to eat healthy foods, and you have to work out, and all that takes time and effort and money, all of which things are very scarce and like hard to find, you know what I mean. Like, so it is it is super tough, but also goal that you've found a way to start to focus on it and found that it's important for you to focus on. Not everybody will everybody's like no, it's fine, I'm gonna keep operating this for the rest of my life.
Yeah, but I feel like this is like perfect timing because it's like the new year and this is when now is the time to like be motivated to you know, have a good new year. Yeah, and set goals for yourself now, which I still need to do that. That's what I need to go.
Are you going to set a resolution or anything?
Yeah, I feel like I should, Like I want to do more goals that you can they're attainable. I think that's sometimes when we do things like that at the beginning of the year, we just say, oh, we want to do this, get more sleep. But it's like you have to make it like more specific, like oh, focus on going to bed an hour before you usually do or something like that to make it were it's possible to do.
Yeah. No, that's definitely true. And the resolutions sometimes we go a little over bore where we're like, I'm gonna do it for the entire year, and then can you imagine actually obtaining something for an entire year?
Yeah, so it's like baby steps.
Yeah.
Like even my boyfriend and I instead of dried January because we tried last year and failed after like day twelve, So now we are gonna do it in January where you pick one day a week and you can drink, you know, So it's like you designate, Okay this week, I'm gonna drink on Friday, and that's when you get to drink and then it's out of your system. Yeah, so I feel like that's a little better. So it's like four days out of January that you get to drink instead of like depriving yourself and then going crazy in February or giving up and you know, so just little ways like that.
Yeah, And I do think it's like there's different things like that that I feel like are beneficial for people. But I also feel like sometimes we go to extreme and that's why we burn ourselves out so quickly on things and why they fail or we don't do them. It's because we're like, no, you have to do it this way. There's so many different versions. And just because everybody else is doing dry Danmuary, you could do a version of that much like Abby's doing. Also, like you want to get fit cool, make it your goal to walk ten minutes a day for a month. See how that works, see how you feel. Maybe then you can up it and maybe you can go to the gym. Whatever. But like I think resolutions often guide us in the direction of being like this extreme. You have to accomplish us in twenty twenty five and it's your entire goal for the year. Maybe not. Maybe let's see the many goals and many many things that like we can actually accomplish, because then it makes us want to accomplish other things.
M Yeah, that's true. Yeah, because you see you're like, you see the results because it was attainable.
Yep.
Instead of being like, oh, I want to lose fifty pounds by I don't know, you know, you could just be like, Okay, maybe I should start eating healthier and cut this out and replace it with this or you know.
All the things.
Yeah.
Oh resolutions, man, do you have one? No, Like I said, I don't. I don't have any plans really to have any. I mean, I don't know. I've just like we're talking about, I don't really have the time to like sit just sit down and be like, let me focus on this. Could I make the time? Yes? Do I have the desire to? I don't think so, because I'm like, as my entire goal in life always, forever, every year, will we be a good person, Like genuinely be a good person and everything that you do. If you do that, you're winning. Like that's always been my goal.
I loved that. Yeah, I love like that's so easy, but it's so hard for so many people. It just be a good person.
It's also hard for me when I'm having a really bad day and I really want to get home or I want to you know, like and have the patience. Like I saw this thing the other day. That was when you are mad at somebody on the road, think of the fact that they're probably transporting a birthday cake in the backseat and they really want to get it to where it needs to go. And it just like there's like moments where you read things, see things that just kind of shift your perspective a little bit. And it just reminded me like, Okay, I have to even in my chaos, even when my life is insanely busy, I am drained, I'm exhausted, I have to slow down, and I just have to like continue to be a good person because everything else doesn't matter. The only thing that matters, genuinely, the only thing that matters.
Right. That's crazy you brought that up because that happened to me. Like last week I was having like the worst day and I was just like, no one knows what I'm going through like no one knows, and I'm like, wait, someone else because I have like major road rage.
And that's how it's understandable in the video of Nashville.
Yes, and so I had that thought, like I was like the whole day, Abby, just like, don't get mad at people, because they could be having a day just like you, like, just give them like some grace because they honestly could be having the worst day of their life too. You have no idea. Maybe they're not thinking clearly because they were just given bad news or something. So that's crazy. Yeah, And it worked because I was like, oh my gosh. It taught me to just like slow down and be like, Okay, it's all good, Like you don't have to get mad at anybody. It's not it's stupid.
It's really hard to do that when you're having a really bad day, especially like I have had multiple days as year where it's been a when it rains a poor situation and I'm like, okay, I really can't take anymore. Somebody's gonna I'm going to turn into a volcano. And yet I managed not to because I just kept being like okay, patience, like you like you can't do anything about this. It was also my thing that I also try and always keep in my brain is if you can't do anything about it in five minutes, you can't change anything, You can't whatever. So many messages to me about talking about like people like if they can't change something about their parents in five minutes, don't say anything mm hmmm. And so it's kind of that same rule of like, if if this is not going to matter five days from now, five months from now, five years from now, do not spend more than five minutes on it. And most things they don't even last in that five days category. I know there are there are some and they will last years, and they will last months or whatever. The most things in life will not even make it to the five day threshold. And that also takes me back to that same level of just like, Okay, this isn't going to matter in the capacity that's mattering to me right now in this moment, m M, I just have to take a set back, remind myself to be a good person despite that this is happening, and try and move through it. Like, but that's so so hard to do.
It is especially on like the rain and when it rains up poor as days. You're like, oh my gosh, what else? Yeah, like what and then it just kind of amplifies your thoughts.
Yeah, I and you want you want to be mad at the world. You want to take it out on somebody because why is it happening to you? Like that's that's human nature to feel angry and upset when things like that are happening.
Right, But you know, that's why I need to get my boxing membership back or actually go I.
Mean boxing membership that you paid for for months that you.
Know, I cannot believe that you watched me. You watched me go up there. I was like, oh, I'm gonna get a guest pass for the day. And then you're like, wait, what are you doing. I'm like, I'm signing up for like unlimited.
I was like, you haven't even been why don't you just like, I mean, I get it, like the commitment of like doing a month cool, yeah you wait six months.
I know. That's the perfect example where I was like, Okay, we're gonna just go big. But then I didn't because I didn't just be like no.
Okay, if you're going to send it, you have to fully commit. I know, like, yeah, I love a send it situation, send it on, but do not half committing a send it situation. You did in that moment you did.
Buying the membership and not going that's not helping you in any way. Like maybe it made me feel better for having that membership, I didn't go, oh my gosh.
So if you two go back, for the love of all that is holy, do it for one month. Okay, if you do do a membership, just unless like the next five months are free or something.
Fine, exactly like never again and anything you do with these resolutions, okay, yeah, listend it fully give it.
Baby steps. You like the baby steps better.
Baby steps are good, So let's focus on that. No more fully stent memberships at random places.
Nikes, I know, so bad.
Anything else you want to add before we get out of here, I.
Don't think so. Hopefully this was like positive and not being like, oh my gosh, I'm so unsure of my life. There was one little I think that moving in was me. Maybe that sounded I think this was this was life. Yeah it is, you know, corns and rainbows. And we're also coming.
Off the holiday season, which is gonna be a mix for a lot of people. Right You're gonna have people coming off of it who are incredibly excited, had the best time ever, and they're recharged, rejuvenated, ready to go. You have a whole lot of other people who are like, that was the worst time ever. I'm so ready for this to be done. Take me home, and I don't want to see anybody. I'm gonna hibernate for you know. Yeah, So I think it's going to go both ways with people listening to this. I hope more people than not are on this side of that that feel relaxed and ready to take on life and had a great time whatever he did the holiday season. But I think most of us are probably feeling the same way that you and I are mutually feeling in a lot of different ways of our lives right now.
I mean holidays are hard, like personally for me because it's like I go home and my brother's not there, and you know, and like that's he always sits used to sit on the fireplace when we would open presents, like with my whole family, and so like no one sits there now, Like we put a plant there, and it's just like it's like a constant reminder that he's not there, and like my grandpa, he always had a Christmas party and he's no longer here. So it's just like you go back to your hometown wanting things to be how they were like when you were a kid growing up, and you want that to be and it is no longer and you realize the change. So I think a lot of that is for a lot of people that could be hard to you know, like going back and if you used to have good times and now times are hard, you wish that was still it. But I just think you have to like create your own memories and just look back at that and be like that was a good time and there's still good times ahead. Yeah, you know, there's still room to make other amazing memories and meet new people. And even if it's not great this year, like you can have a great year next year. You know, we're not always gonna have amazing everything, Like you.
Said, it's not always gonna be unicorning in rainbows.
Yeah, so sometimes it will be mm hmm. Well, I think.
That's really good for a lot of people to here because I do guarantee that a lot of people are feeling in similar capacity to you in that way and yeah, I mean this is the the first year of that both of my grandparents here and we had just I believe this is the first year. Gosh, time is I it is a time warp that I don't understand, and timing messes with my brain back to me needing to go to where you go. But I understand that side of things. And also I will be here if you want, not here in Nashville, I'll be here in our both of our hometown if you want to go play pickleball if things get a little hard. And also you just have a different season happening right now and you're like, I need to do something that is not in this vicinity. I'm there.
Well, thank you you too, thank you, I really am. You can come to my side though, I'm.
Just well, technically we're playing pickleball.
I have to you do, and you're gonna love it.
I will because I love you. I just you know you little bougie east Siders. That's with that. We'll tell the people where they can find you. All that good stuff.
On Instagram, Abby Lee Anderson. Yeah, that's it. That's about it. That's where I'm most active on social media. It's my Instagram, even though I'm not even that active.
But your five year posts, you're five times a year posts.
Yeah, I do stories, so I guess you can look at my stories.
I haven't seen a story from you in a hot minute, besides reposting the questions for best bits, Oh that's true.
Yeah and the radiothon. Yeah I did those reposting. But see, just took a little hiatus. Well I got like work done on my face, so it was a huge puffball. I got this laser.
Yeah, none, it looks really good. Your face looks beautiful right now.
Thank you?
Do you have any.
Makeup on a little bit, like a little just like a powder. I got a doctor Lucky's office. I love that nice.
Yeah, that's.
So. It's called BBL. And then the other one is HALO.
It's like the butt thing.
You got a butt broadband laser.
I know when she said that alls are called BBL because BBL definitely means but.
I know when I went in, she was like, you're getting BBL. I'm like, ah, no, well, I mean I want to but no, just kidding.
I mean, this was so much love. Abby. If you got a BABEL, everybody would know, like you're so little. Everyone would know.
They absolutely would know.
And I'm not like specifically talking about your butt. That's weird, Like you're just like a tiny human being. And even if they're like the tiniest injection before.
Oh my gosh, they so would.
Not that anybody mean, that would not be a subtle No, it wouldn't. You couldn't keep that secret.
No, oh my gosh. So yeah, I didn't get that. Maybe next I'm just kidding.
Okay, I need I need to go look into this. Yeah, your amazing.
Yeah, I mean it's it's very intense because I could not, like I couldn't be at work for it. It was during Thanksgiving because I knew Lunchbox would just like never stop. It was really bad, Like I looked like a chipmunk. I was just like my face.
How long does it take for you to finally be back to normal?
Well, it was like five days that it was like that. Oh yeah, it was really bad.
So that that was why you had the social media break.
Also, yes, that actually is Yeah, I was gonna document it, but it was way too I'm gonna do it now, but it was way too bad.
