Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said another interest-rate hike is more likely than not if the high energy costs seen in recent weeks return. Speaking to Bloomberg TV’s Francine Lacqua after the central bank raised rates to 4% on Thursday, Bailey warned that a jump in inflation is “quite baked in at this point” even in a scenario where there is a rapid de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
