The FTC and international trade standards recognize laboratory-grown diamonds as diamonds, provided disclosure is clear. Consumer perception has shifted dramatically over the last few years, moving the discussion away from origin and towards quality, craftsmanship, light performance and value. Lab-grown diamonds should not be confused with simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite, which are not carbon-based diamonds.
