Blazing Grace Podcast

The dark days we find ourselves in demands that we equip God’s people for spiritual warfare. In this third of a 3 part series, Mike continues to walk you through key points to understand in the spiritual battles every committed believer will face, beginning with the imperative to be a part of a tribe of other believers, then looking at winning over attacks of anger, depression, or hopelessness, and more.

We are a Church at War. We're losing many battles because we’re not equipping God's people in spiritual warfare. Pastors and ministry leaders fall daily. Suicide takes many lives. Many are walking away from the faith. A once every 2-3 years message on the armor of God isn’t enough.   The evil we’re immersed in demands that we equip God’s people for spiritual warfare. In this second  of a 3 part series, Mike continues to walk you through key points to understand in the spiritual battles every committed believer will face, beginning with an area that many are struggling with - fear - then continuing with the battles of the mind.

We are a Church at War. We're losing many battles because we’re not equipping God's people in spiritual warfare. Pastors and ministry leaders fall daily. Suicide takes many lives. Many are walking away from the faith. A once every 2-3 years message on the armor of God isn’t enough.   One pastor of a large church recently said, “Even though we have many big churches, we haven’t made a dent in the culture.” He’s right, the armies of the demonic realm have penetrated every part of society, including the church, and are taking more ground by the minute. The evil we’re immersed in demands that we equip God’s people for spiritual warfare. In this first of a 3 part series, Mike begins to walks you through key points to understand in the spiritual battles every committed will face, beginning with your identity in Christ.

A recent Axios poll showed that 43% of Americans approve of socialism. In this broadcast Mike discusses this and other stories including man allowing AI to talk him out of the faith, suicide, women struggling with porn in increasing numbers, the daily flow of pastors and ministry leaders falling and being exposed to sexual sin, men stepping back from dating and work, and more. If there was ever a time for a sense of urgency and the church becoming a house of prayer, it is now. "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called," Ephesians 4:1

This broadcast is an interview of Mike Genung by Scott Wilson of the Total Experience Radio show in Phoenix. Topics discussed include sexual sin in the church, prayer, and the difficulty we have with silence.

In this third broadcast of 3 shows, Mike gets into how the church, which has been corrupted with sexual sin and the influences of the world, can take the effective action steps that will provide healing and repentance for many, including:  Understanding our moral and financial bankruptcy  The need for a sense of urgency Unplugging the worship band Beginning with Rogue Worship Breaking up for sharing, confession, and prayer  Looking at the sins God's people are mired in

“‘Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me." Ezekiel 16:49  In his 1985 book, Amusing ourselves to Death, Neil Postman wrote the following:  “When a population becomes distracted by trivia, when cultural life is redefined as a perpetual round of entertainments, when serious public conversation becomes a form of baby-talk, when, in short, a people become an audience and their public business a vaudeville act, then a nation finds itself at risk; culture-death is a clear possibility.”  Our culture of entertainment and prosperity has affected every area of life, including the church. Sexual sin and depravity are widespread. 70% of the US is overweight. In this second of 2 shows, Mike continues to look at how the US reflects the Sodom of Ezekiel 16.

“‘Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done."  Ezekiel 16:49-51 When Sodom and Gomorrah come to mind, many think of how the men of the city tried to rape the angels and the city was destroyed. There’s more to the story, as we see in the verses above. Pride, gorging on food, and prosperity can feed a life of pleasure, entertainment, and sexual sin. This describes the US today. In this first of three episodes, Mike Genung begins to examine how the US has become Sodom-like as Ezekiel 16 describes.

He is a former private investigator who has taught over 250 criminal justice classes on occult crimes and crimes against children to law enforcement and others. In this broadcast Greg shares a bit of his story and shares about the need for the church to talk about spiritual warfare, his top 3 points for warfare every believer should know, and the media with occult influence that many are playing with today, including those in the church.

When the nation of Israel sent 12 spies to spy out the promised land, 2 came back with confidence and said to move forward.  After Jesus healed 10 lepers, one came back to give thanks.  John was the only apostle who went all the way to the cross with Jesus. In the parable of the sower, 1 out of 4 hearts bore fruit. The Bible repeatedly gives us examples showing that there are few who take the narrow path, as Jesus called it. We do well to consider where we are and if our relationship with God is as strong as we assume it is. The crowd, even the Christian crowd, doesn't always get it right.

Sandy England, leader of the wives ministry at Blazing Grace, returns to discuss what she sees wives whose husbands are mired in porn or other forms of sexual sin going through, and what their process of healing looks like.

Mike talks about not leaving God home when we go on vacation and spending time with the Lord while away, then gets into the battles many are fighting today - and losing - and what we can do about it.

The Total Experience is a radio show in Phoenix, Arizona. In this broadcast Mike is interviewed by Scott Wilson of The Total Experience on sexual sin and porn use in the church and other topics.

John was raised in a broken home by a father who was an alcoholic; his mother ended a lifelong struggle with depression with suicide, all of which had a profound affect on John’s heart. John was married and a pastor for more than 8 years… but lost his marriage to divorce. In previous broadcasts John shared his story which included a years long struggle with same sex attraction and pornography, his journey to freedom, and the critical need for support from others. In this show John returns to share the story of his son committing suicide.

When individuals, families, and churches hide their sin, be it large numbers of men and women ensnared in sexual sin or pornography, or if someone is abused sexually or spiritually, the system becomes more important then helping God's people, or even God's holiness. On a large scale, some in leadership positions may try to silence those who have been abused in their flock in order to "protect the reputation of the church," which adds more pain to those who have been hurt and states that the holiness of God doesn't matter. Mike discusses how the coverup causes more damage than good.  "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper but he who confesses and forsakes them will find mercy."  - Proverbs 28:13

Makayla Randall is 22 years old. Her story includes being sexually assaulted at church camp, addicted to porn at the age of 11 years old, then being raped twice, and running away from God. In this second of two broadcasts, Makayla shares how God healed her, the prevalence of porn in the church, and how we should be openly addressing these issues,

Gareth Lane is the senior pastor – or Vicar - as it’s called in Great Britain, of the Church on Berryfields in Aylesbury, UK, which he has led the past 12 years. He has been married to his wife Jenny for nearly 30 yrs and they have 4 children. In this broadcast Gareth shares his struggles with pornography and how he overcame it.

In 2025 the US government took in 5.23 trillion and spent 7 trillion adding 1.8 trillion to the deficit. A little under 1 trillion of that was interest. The total deficit will soon exceed 40 trillion. The US is now the largest debtor in the world. For the most part our leaders are ignoring our bankruptcy and doing nothing to stem the flow of debt.  Are we in the church ignoring our bankruptcy, with mass numbers of men and women viewing porn, youth leaving the church in droves for the past 25 years, many with a stunted prayer life and lack of time in God's word? According to Lifeway Research, around 1 in 7 Americans (14%) believe the Bible is the actual word of God and should be taken literally, word for word. In this broadcast Mike discusses what we can do.

Mike discusses where we are, in a time of chaos, recklessness, darkness, and lies, and where we're headed. Matthew 24 and the book of Revelation warn of how critical endurance will be in the days we live in.Those who play church will be at risk of allowing their heart to go cold, as Jesus warned in Matthew 24. Growing deep roots in our relationship with God is critical.

Joshua Lane, is a Youth Pastor in Aylesbury in the United Kingdom, He was addicted to pornography for 10 years from his early teens. In this broadcast Joshua shares his story, including the shame, fear, and distortion of women that porn caused, to the moment when he was willing to do anything to break free.

Mike looks at 3 questions in this broadcast:  1. Who killed the prayer meeting? 2. Why aren’t we talking about sex, porn, masturbation, promiscuity often?  3. Do we really want revival? The 3 are connected. A spiritual awakening isn't possible unless the sexual sin that many in the church are in bondage to is ignored, and prayer fuels and sustains revivals. Are we willing to make the changes necessary to go hard after the spiritual awakening that so many are talking about?

After years of helping men and women heal from sexual sin in their marriage, Mike saw the same themes repeatedly. Many Christians are isolated, in bondage or struggling in different areas (lust, fear, anger, anxiety, depression), know little about spiritual warfare, and don’t have a strong prayer life, even though they’ve attended church for decades. Reading the books of Acts where the early church was “devoted to the teaching of God’s word, prayer, and fellowship” (Acts 2:42) and comparing it to the modern church, where the prayer meeting has often become extinct, formed the idea that today a Biblical Christian is a Rogue Christian. Mike discusses the Rogue's Creed; 7 principles for living a life with impact for eternity.

Mike discusses emails from men and women who have written to Blazing Grace looking for help to provide a glimpse of the real world pain and suffering from sexual sin that many are going through in the church.

Onlyfans is 7 billion dollar "Do it yourself porn site"… Pornhub receives massive numbers of visits... AI porn is exploding... The US is the number 1 producer and consumer of porn in the world… Many turn to pornography for sex education, while many churches barely touch the topic. Is there anything wrong with pornography? After all, aren't the actresses in those films having the time of their life?  Mike takes a hard look at the truth, including comments from former porn actresses he's talked with.

In this second of two broadcasts, Mike Genung is interviewed live by Pastor Brian Michaels in Colorado Springs on his Crosswalk program. They continue their conversation on helping the sexually broken, including how to minister to wives, who are often left out of the conversation.

This broadcast is a live interview of Mike Genung in Colorado Springs by Pastor Brian Michaels on his Crosswalk show. Mike shares his story and the two get into a discussion about how the church can help God's people with the porn epidemic.

In his book Beloved, Francis Chan tells the story of when his daughter was in Bible College and the teacher asked the class to sit silently alone with God for 7 minutes - and how most students couldn't do it and started reaching for their phones or playing music. Chan writes: "Silence and meditation are very important spiritual disciplines that are getting utterly lost in the American church. If you find yourself unable to be quiet for any length of time, you urgently need to start working out that spiritual muscle... This is not a light matter – I truly believe it is critical to the longevity of your faith." In this broadcast, Mike and Bekah discuss the need to rest with God in silence.  "in quietness and in trust shall be your strength." Isaiah 30:15

In his autobiography "Surprised by Joy," CS Lewis shares how, as a teen, he was deceived into walking away from the faith by a teacher at school who was into the wrong side of the fence spiritually, and, a professing Christian who distorted CS Lewis' view of prayer, effectively giving him a bad taste for it. In our post-truth culture of today, it's critical to understand that the Bible is the final voice on all truth, and that we're in a spiritual battle where the enemy will try to deceive us - even by other believers. I will look with favor on the faithful in the land,     that they may dwell with me; he who walks in the way that is blameless     shall minister to me. Psalm 101:6

Mark Skalberg has over 40 years of pastoral experience, serving as the lead Pastor of Canyons Community Church in Castle Rock, Colorado, Woodmen Valley Chapel, Calvary Chapel, and others. He has also served as a chaplain for the Colorado Department of Corrections since 2015. Mark discusses how their recovery program works, the recidivism rate, and sexual sin in the church.

We live in chaotic, dark times. How do we not only navigate and survive, but thrive during the days we find ourselves in? Mike Genung walks through 9 ways every believer can order their lives in order to make an impact for eternity.

Jim also talks about the affect that his struggles had on his marriage.

The life that Jesus modeled for us included going away alone for long stretches of prayer in silence. These extended times alone in God's presence are critical to the life of every believer, especially during these days that are chaotic and draining to the soul. In this broadcast Mike shares his experience of a recent 3 day trip alone with God where the Lord showered him with love and revived him.

For the past 30 years surveys have shown that waves of youth have exited the church. In this second of two shows, Sean Genung, 31, and Rebekah Genung, 23, join Mike to discuss what they see happening with youth. We begin this broadcast by looking at the results of a survey of youth that showed: “I don’t believe some of the things I hear talked about at religious gatherings.” - 60% “I do not like to be told answers about faith and religion. I’d rather discover my own answers.” 58% “Because other things help me find meaning in my life, I don't need a faith community.” 56% “I don’t feel like I can be my full self in a religious organization.” 55% “Religious communities try to fix my problem instead of just being there for me.” 54% “Religion, faith, or religious leaders will try to give me answers, but I am looking for something else.” 53% Mike, Sean, and Bekah discuss these topics and more, including the idols that youth and adults are paying homage to.

For the past 30 years surveys have shown that waves of youth have exited the church. With such a mass exit of youth, why aren't we hearing warnings and open discussions of this from our pulpits? If you were owner of a company and your customers were leaving in mass wouldn’t you be freaking out, calling meetings, making plans?  One survey showed that 70-88% of Christian youth born in evangelical homes leave the faith after one year in secular college. In this first of two shows, Sean Genung, 31, and Rebekah Genung, 23, join Mike to discuss what they see happening with youth.

The first broadcast of every year, Mike Genung shares his back story, which includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, alcohol and drug use, daily binges with pornography and masturbation, affairs, other forms of sexual sin - and how God radically changed his life. Rebekah joins Mike for this show.

Mike and Rebekah, his daughter, discuss the new "Six Seven" trend in youth with occult influence, Jesus' words to "Remember Lot's Wife" in these last days, and the wonderful blessings God promises every believer who overcomes in Revelation 2 and 3, including: Rev. 2:7 –  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’ Rev. 2:17 – To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.’ Rev. 3:5-6 –  The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. 6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Rev. 3:12 –  The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.

Today, men are up against: A culture, even in some churches, that tries to emasculate them. The media often portrays fathers as useless idiots.   A sex-saturated society, with sirens of lust everywhere. There is often little help equipping them in these areas, including at the church. The battles with the flesh – learning how to “buffet our body and make it our slave” Learning how to fulfill the command for Husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church. The isolation that is so prevalent in the church. How to be a leader in their home?  Mike and Tim Peterson, counselor and leader of the Blazing Grace men's ministry, discuss how men can find their way - and most importantly, their heart - so they can thrive and make an impact in today's challenging environment.

Mike shares stories from his last trip in the UK, Finland, and Italy speaking about porn and sexual issues and The Rogue Christian topics, the warfare encountered, doors that that were opened, and walks through The Rogues Creed - 7 principles for the Rogue Christian way of life.

Dan Wiens is our ministry partner in Italy, and is the director of Liberati in Cristo, a ministry to the sexually broken and their spouse in Italy. In this second of 2 broadcasts, Dan and Mike continue the conversation by discussing the size of the Christian church in Italy (around 1-1.5% of the population), and his perspective on the Italian church. Spiritual abuse is a big problem there, as it is in the US.   This show was recorded in Modena, Italy.
