By the early 1970s, Brown was carrying out sex reassignment surgery on transgender patients[1] at a small clinic he set up in San Francisco.[2] He would later claim to have performed 600 such surgeries during the course of his career.[2] Most of his patients were trans women who were too poor to afford the fees of reputable surgeons.  This episode features many accounts of former patients who suffered as a result of the infamous Butcher Brown.
