What their preliminary trade deal means for the U.S., Japan – and Canada. Carlo Dade (1:00), director of the Canada West Foundation’s trade and investment centre, calls the deal a blow to Canada. He also calls it a warning – that the U.S. could encroach on other areas of opportunity for Canadian companies in Japan, and in other CPTPP countries.

Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada has noticed that Asian Pacific countries are expressing interest in opportunities that involve Indigenous businesses. Dr. Scott Harrison (14:03), program manager of engaging Asia, discusses the first guidebook of its kind – one designed to help Indigenous businesses leverage Asia Pacific trade opportunities.
