On the day after what host Bill Bunkley calls the “great massacre” of November 4, 2026, The Bill Bunkley Show delivers a raw postmortem with longtime political consultant Mark Proctor. While Democrats seized control of the U.S. House and Senate in a sweeping blue wave driven by high turnout, independent voters swinging hard left, migration from blue states, block voting, and classic midterm backlash, Florida Republicans narrowly retained the governorship, cabinet, and legislative supermajorities—thanks in part to strong support for Amendment 3’s homestead tax relief. Bunkley and Proctor dig into the “Kathy Castor effect” that flipped Hillsborough County, low Republican and Christian turnout, Trump fatigue over style and pocketbook issues (gas prices, Iran involvement, economic promises), and the growing power of unaffiliated voters. The show also covers breaking local news of a targeted workplace shooting at the Citibank complex in Sabal Park, where a suspect crashed a vehicle into a lunch area, killed one person, and was fatally shot by an armed security guard amid a massive multi-agency response. Listener calls add perspective on media bias, Muslim block voting in Michigan, Hispanic shifts in Texas, and the danger of staying home in midterms, before the program closes with practical Medicare open-enrollment guidance and a faith-centered reminder that God remains on the throne.
