Is Religion for Fools? - Bill Medley - 20-21 July 2024

View descriptionShare
Mark Twain allegedly claimed that 'Religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool.' Is religion for fools? Our guest investigated the five major world religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism; attempting to understand what they claim and how their claims can be accessed. What, if anything, can a layman learn about ’God’ or an ’afterlife’? What can logic and tangible evidence reveal? Our guest: Once a religious sceptic, Bill Medley used to work as a professional entertainer for fifteen years, and his stand-up comedy routines sometimes included satires on religion. He is the author of the award-winning book Religion is For Fools, and served as a pastor at the Frankston Presbyterian Church for 14 years.
