Today we revisit the Solve for Tomorrow competition that was launched by Samsung earlier this year as part of their contribution to youth empowerment and skills development in the information communication technology sector to help advance the country’s Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) agenda. The key objective of this initiative is to increase interest and proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) among grade 10 and 11 learners from underserved communities.

A new study has been released on Murder in South Africa and the profile of the victims of this violent crime. The study sought to challenge the outdated narrative that men in society are considered invulnerable, their susceptibility to violence, and interrogated their ability to navigate access to the healthcare system. The study recommended that more work needs to be done to reduce the rate of men being murdered as they fall in the vast majority of cases (87% of participants studied). This study was conducted by the Medical Research Council in partnership with the School of Public Health at the University of Cape Town looking at the years: 2000, 2009, and 2017.
