On this episode of Between Two Beers we talk to Simon Porter.
Simon is the CEO of New Zealand’s biggest sporting agency, Halo Sport.
His company represents many of NZ’s biggest stars, from Scott Robertson, Ian Foster, Beauden Barrett and Dan Carter to Dame Valerie Adams, Suzie Bates, Gemma McCaw and Willie Apiata.
Simon has been working in either sports law or the sporting industry since 1999 and became the boss at Halo Sport in 2017.
His network is unrivalled having brokered contracts for his clients in every professional market within the rugby world.
His knowledge of sport in NZ and sponsorship contracts is second to none.
In this episode we talk about the realities of being NZ’s top sporting agent – and what separates the good from the great, behind the scenes of representing both Razor and Ian Foster during the All Blacks coaching saga, his role in connecting NZ Rugby with Japan, the problems with rugby in NZ, where cricket is headed, and much, much more.
Simon is one of the cleanest, sharpest thinkers in NZ sport and this was an entertaining and insightful peak behind the scenes of his world.
