The Green Bay Packers traded two draft picks to move up and select Florida kicker Trey Smack in the 2026 NFL Draft. Less than two weeks later, the team released Brandon McManus. 

Which is interesting, considering the Packers preached the importance of "competition," after making the move for Smack, and suddenly, it looks less like a competition, and more like Smack's job. (with all due respect to Lucas Havrisik.)

The Green Bay Packers have shown how good they can be on the offensive side of the ball, but head coach Matt LaFleur said they planned to strip it down like it's Year 1, and essentially, start from scratch this offseason.

Sixteen years after Tyrod Taylor last took a snap at Virginia Tech, he signed with the Packers to back up Jordan Love, where he'll team up with fellow Va. Tech alum Kyron Drones, as the team looks to replace Malik Willis at QB2. 

When Taylor finished his time at Virginia Tech in 2010, Drones was in elementary school. Now, two former Hokie quarterbacks bring a new look to the quarterback room in Green Bay, along with Kyle McCord.

Andy Herman of the Pack-a-Day Podcast joins the show to discuss Taylor, as well as recap the press conferences of new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and new special teams coordinator Cam Achord.

Meanwhile, the Packers have a new backup quarterback, as they signed veteran Tyrod Taylor to back up Jordan Love, replacing Desmond Ridder.
