Ntokozo “K.O” Mdluli, born in Soweto, Johannesburg, was influenced by hip-hop legends and began his rap career early on. He formed the group “Teargas,” leaving a lasting impact on South African music with four classic albums. K.O. gained fame through collaborations with icons like AKA and L-Tido.
In 2013, he launched the entertainment company “Cashtime Life” and released the hit "Caracara," which transformed South African hip-hop, topping charts and becoming the first South African rap video to exceed a million views on YouTube.
His debut album, “Skhanda Republic,” debuted at number one and won three South African Music Awards, leading to tours across Africa, the UK, and the US. His second album, “SR2,” showcased a more personal side with collaborations featuring Black Coffee, Shekhinah, and Runtown. K.O’s 2019 album “PTY Unltd” achieved gold status and included stars like Wizkid and DJ Maphorisa.
With nearly two decades in the industry, K.O returns stronger with his latest project, "Phara City," a cinematic reflection of ambition and resilience. This album redefines the essence of “Phara” as a symbol of pride and determination, offering a narrative of survival and dignity inspired by gritty urban landscapes. K.O joins us in studio to share insights into his music and the movement it represents.
