In this episode, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Reza Jazayeri shows you how to prepare for and recover from surgery like an athlete, from the strength you build beforehand to the nutrients, technologies, and anesthesia choices that shape how you heal. You’ll hear why your biology, not the surgeon’s hardware, is now the weak link, why weak quads going into a knee surgery predict how well you function afterward, how he harvests your own cells mid-operation, and why going into surgery starving is outdated. He also explains why the protein guidelines most people follow fall short after an operation, and what NASA’s bed rest studies revealed about the best way to hold on to muscle.

You’ll also learn which amino acids, vitamins, and minerals he uses before and after an operation, where pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), hyperbaric oxygen, and red light fit into recovery, which supplements to stop beforehand, and how too much zinc can block copper. We dig into ketones, growth hormone, peptides, and the one-week pause he puts on blood vessel-building peptides after surgery, and I share the stack I would personally use, plus why I banked my own bone marrow stem cells and fat stem cells years ago. Speak with your own physician or surgeon before implementing anything you hear.
