FOOD FRAUD: Four Corners recently screened a two-part series called DUPED - Food Exposed. Its content is the result of one of the largest food investigations ever undertaken in Australia.

The shocking results raise serious questions about food authenticity, misleading origin claims and undeclared ingredients in common pantry items. Food fraud is easy to commit, hard to detect, and worth billions. And the people paying the price are surprise surprise … consumers!

My guests today are from Seleno Health - The Maca and Cacao Experts, a small specialised natural food company mostly dealing in Peruvian Maca and Cacao, fusing ancient plant wisdom with modern scientific research. Created with Tradition, Validated by Science.

Gavin (pictured) and Jane discuss their first-hand experience dealing with falsified claims within the food wellness industry. They're here to raise greater awareness and are tired of false labels and claims from health food companies that have no science or evidence to back them up.

Seleno Health represents authenticity, honesty and trust. Three things that are sadly lacking in many areas of health food manufacturing and marketing.

Recent Winter radio course graduate and a second-generation biodynamic grape grower and winemaker Pete Windrim is my guest on the show today.

Pete heads up the Natural Order Wine company N.O.W. and very generously provided the delicate bubbles for the celebratory end to the course a couple of Saturdays ago.

I invited Pete onto the show after a moment I experienced having taken the first sip of the Pet Nat. I found myself being transported out of the studio environment and into some floral world surrounded by beauty and grace, like waking up in a meadow of spring flowers bursting with life, all at the same time. Good enough reason to want to discover more about the organic bio-dynamic goodness going on here and to share that with you dear listener.

The folk at N.O.W. believe in making wines without additions nor filtration, which along with the delicate production process, weaves new threads into the wine story with silky, soft, light and lavish delights.

We’re not here to advise you to drink alcohol. This is a story about family legacy, organic Barossa grape growers, and a bunch of friends who got together to bring the age-old traditions of wine making into this modern world, a world where ethics, sustainability and a deeper meaning to drinking alcohol exists.  We love to know that you’re enjoying yourself, but we’d also love to know you’re doing that mindfully :)

Last week in Episode 6 of WOW Wise Older Women Series 2 we met Simone O’Brien, a physical theatre performer, feminist firecracker, and a woman whose storytelling crackles with truth and grit. In fact, it's so good her interview had to be broken up into two parts!

In her sixty‑plus years Simone has lived a life that defies gravity. Literally. From soaring above audiences on a trapeze, to touring the world with a queer aerial troupe, surviving a devastating fall, confronting illness, and offering radical forgiveness to her father in amongst the depths of a major diagnosis, Simone has rebuilt herself again and again. A common theme in the stories of the Wise Older Women throughout this CBF grant funded series

Last week we heard how she’s marched through waves of feminism, explored sexuality with honesty, and how she continues to navigate the effects of menopause, amongst the politics of women’s health. She approaches all of this with the same fierce intelligence she brings to everything, including her post‑menopausal post‑punk cabaret band Mutton, alongside WOW Ep.4 Guest: Gabrielle Griffin.

Simone refuses to be silenced and absolutely insists on being seen.

In Part 2 we go deeper. We explore the fall that shattered her bones and almost her spirit, as she colliding head on with a major diagnosis. We'll hear about the fierce determination that carried her through and the answer to the question "What's the one thing you'd regret not doing before you died?'

Her story is full of forgiveness and enlightenment, of radical resilience, it's full of art and movement, and the inner furnace that never stopped burning.

It’s my great pleasure to reintroduce Simone O’Brien to Belly to finish her story. We left her last week hanging from a silk, waiting for us to come back this week, teetering on the edge of a lifechanging event that triggered huge changes both physically and emotionally.
