View descriptionShare

Since the olden days, we have witnessed artforms bringing cultures together, overcoming differences and finding common ground. Remember that time when two kings would meet for talks?

But these talks would always begin by a friendly warmth of being introduced to the host’s native culture and tradition On this episode of Being The Change, host Rohan Thakar wishes to touch these roots once again, and explore how art and culture can bring people together.

He is joined by Sheema Kermani, she is among the most respected exponents of the Bharatnatyam & Kathak dance form, but that’s not the only thing that’s cool, she is joining us from Karachi, Pakistan!

She is started her dance career very early on in 1970s from Bharat, then went on to create her social activism group Tehrik-e-Niswan focused towards empowering women through art.

You might have also seen her in the superhit CokeStudio Pakistan song Pasoori where she enchanted us by her serene dance skills Listen to the conversation to find out if art can bring our cultures together!
