The White House said it has asked US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign from her post following allegations of unethical conduct.
President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, indicated that she would be leaving.
“I didn’t speak to her, no — but she will not be there. I didn’t like what I read,” Trump said. White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia told reporters earlier she had been asked to resign.
Guilfoyle, a Trump appointee, came under scrutiny in a series of reports by the Wall Street Journal alleging she solicited or accepted money, travel and other benefits from private individuals while using — or offering to use — her access to US officials and her diplomatic position to advance their interests.
