House Votes to End DHS Shutdown

Lawmakers voted to end the longest partial government shutdown in US history as the House passed a bill to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security, omitting funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol.The president is expect time sign the bill when it reaches his desk and Republicans plan to address the omitted funding using a future reconciliation package.
Speaking to reporters after the voter House Speaker Mike Johnson said “We will finish the work and finally — again for three years with no crazy Democratic reforms — we will fund Border Patrol and immigration enforcement as soon as we return to the next work session.”
