Hey, everyone, welcome back to Bachler Happy Hour Part two with Zach and Katy.
Do you prefer Kate because he called you Kate?
Yeah, you want Kate.
Those people to me call me Kate, but you guys, you guys can.
Call me Kate.
Okay, Yes, we're close to you.
I'm Joe, I'm Strina, and we're here with Zach.
And Kate for part two Happy Hour.
And you did not listen to part one. Go back and listen, or at least listen to like the last five minutes, because we're about to have Zach and Kate finish a story about their terrible travel to Canada, more specifically, Zach's terrible travel.
Zach's first trip to Canada. So it continues, Zach.
Yeah, so I booked a flight. I get on the flight to Toronto, and at this point, I'm still so upset because I missed the opportunity to see Kate's grandma again.
You also are on no sleep. I'm assuming, oh no sleep.
Yeah, like I did, and even like I couldn't fathom going to sleep then because I was just so in my own head. I was beating myself up about it and like just seeing her her grandma. I've seen I've met her grandma quite a few times, and she's lovely. But I get to Toronto and fortunately the airline finds my luggage like a day or two later ships it to her brother's house. All is starting to shape up really well. I am meeting the friends, I mean the family. I'm checking out Toronto, Burlington, all these places.
Wait to throw Burlington in there, Okay, nice?
Nice?
I was like, where'd you go the co Factory?
Wait?
Is it actually the thing co factory?
Where it started?
Yeah, I don't know, started in Victoria.
Vancouver, Vancouver.
Yeah, yeah, I thought the first one was Victoria. Maybe yeah, love Lululemon.
Anyway, you're seeing all the places, seeing all the places, and the trips going great, like we're kind of moving on, We're getting through it.
And now it's time to go to Kingston.
Now it's time to go to Kingston, Toronto, Kingston to go to her best friend or one of her best friend's weddings and the rehearsal dinners. Kate's in the wedding. I'm along for the ride. But this is the first time I'm meeting her in person, her best friend, So there's a lot on you know, at stake right and going to Kingston.
Zach's duty to book the train tickets to Kingston.
Yeah, so I booked the tickets like a couple of weeks.
How were you taking the Go train from Tronto? Okay?
Yeah?
And Kate calls me one day she was gone and she's like, hey, can you book these for us on this state we got to go? I was like, yeah, sure, made whatever, Like, let me do it. After this call, I'm on via rail six forty five. That's enough time, do book two tickets. We're good to go. We get dropped, but you take this part because I had a fuzzy with who dropped us off? Like how we got there?
Okay, So we basically get on the Go train. We and U going into Union Station and it's kind of like cleared out a little bit, and we go to scan our tickets and the bar code is not scanning, and we're like, oh, what the heck's going on with? The girl goes this was for six forty am, sir no, yeah, and the girls like yeah, it's military time. So anyways, luckily my friend Sam, she came to the rescue and she drove us to Kingston.
That night.
So we were in the clear there and that was.
A thing, a good time. The wedding was.
Great, all my best friends, it was. It was a really good, good wedding.
It was so much fun. And there was a conversation starter for me.
You know what's so funny is I and maybe this is because maybe this is a Canadian thing. I don't know, and because we travel outside of the country more freak only I would say that Americans do. I never travel without my passport, even if I'm traveling within Canada. I never traveled at my passport. I have it on me at all times.
And that's that's a Canadian thing. It's not an American. Yeah, I never traveled at my passport unless I'm leaving the country.
I hope.
Well, when we are going to Canada, be like, don't fret your passport. And I'm like, I bring my passport to l A, I bring it to Chicago, I bring it everywhere with me.
When I first went on spring break to Mexico, there was no passports required.
Oh that's crazy.
Yeah, I'm dating myself, but yeah, pretty crazy.
Okay, it was required just an id ID Mexico.
Yeah, as a kid.
See, I still would have brought my passport.
Yeah, okay, so we saw on Instagram you and your girls from your season.
I'll did another trip.
You guys are travelers. You're always doing trips together. I feel like, I.
Think it's amazing because we all are from different states, so we always try to pick a different state to experience altoge. Like nobody had been to Tuloom.
That's fun. So that's nice too because then one person doesn't have to be like the tour guide for the whole weekend and like planned the whol itendery. Like if everyone's going to Austin, they'd probably be like, Katie, what do we do? Where do we eat?
Which we did do that too.
Okay.
I think there was twelve of us and that was January. Yeah, that was in January. That was our first trip. Yeah, and that was in Airbnb with all the girls. Like that was just that's a lot. It was crazy, Yeah, but it was a lot of fun. And we all watched the premiere together.
Oh that's really fun.
Yeah, and then we've been to Miami together. We've been to Fort Lauderdale, Tuloom, and our next trip is Montana. Oh random, No, that's with not my best friend.
How many how many of these trips are you guys going to take a year?
I don't know. I think just do you have a favorite one so far?
I would say tu loom Okay, Yeah, are you guys getting influencer deals on these trips or no? Yes, but like we're not getting paid to show up to places.
It's kind of like a yeah, you're staying for free kind of thing.
Yeah exactly, yeah, yeah, and then there's like some free meals if we post a story or things whatever, stuff like that.
You're getting you're getting deal, You're getting a deal.
Yeah. Yeah, but it's really nice. They're a great group group of girls, and I'm so fortunate. And the great thing is is we we all had this bond on the show, and we continue to have that. We continue to just like build that grow and with new memories too.
Who's like the planner out of the group, Like who's the one that's like, okay, like booking the next trip, Like who's initiading it?
We all kind of chip in. Like the Tulom trip, I would say I probably did most of the trip for that. Yeah, yeah, we all kind of share, Okay, we all kind of chip in and we'll all kind of like reach out to different companies restaurants to see what we can get, divide and conquer basically. But the next trip, I believe Jess and Mercedes is taking that one.
Okay, did you guys watch Paradise?
Yes, we watched Paradise.
Okay, and wait, so it was a lot of the girls from your guys' season. So how has that been watching it all unfold? I mean a lot of the girls from your season are very entangled in some major storylines.
No, I love watching it back and I love seeing how they deal with things because like, for example, Mercedes, like I didn't see her a lot on our season like airtime wise and see like her build connections. So to see her with Tyler and see her with Will like that was amazing that she had those moments and unfortunately it didn't work out, but it's beautiful to see that and see how happy they are. Obviously, sometimes it does go south.
It seems like a lot of the time it's God.
Say to you on this trip.
Yeah, you guys know you were. Did the girls tell you about for.
Our listeners, who was on this tomb trip?
Mercedes, Jazz, Kylie, Kylie Buriel and Gabby was on.
Chat was not on this trip, but she's been on past trips. Correct, Yes, okay, okay.
So the girls that were on this trip, the girls that were on this trip, what are they saying about Paradise?
Yes, I think I think collectively, I think it was just a good experience for them. Would they do it again? I think different girls are going to say different things.
I also think the answer changes a lot, like give it a year, and their answer might be.
Very true, very true, but truly like even out of Mercedes mouth, like verbatim, she said, it was a great experience. I had a lot of fun. Yeah, and so that that's amazing.
Well, it does seem like because we can compare to our season. I don't know what it was our season, but like people were like, I want to go Like if I'm not in a strong relationship and basically have to be here for the sake of this relationship, I want to go home. And I feel like it's like the opposite with this past season, where there's not a lot of strong relationships, but they all want to stay and they're all jumping around trying to find I do think they want to find relationships I don't think everyone's just like being phony, but like it's just like there were so many strong couples in our season and if you weren't, like I have to say, are the wise. I can't be in this relationship right now. I'm getting off this beach. And though they were like the opposite.
It's not a vacation though, that's the thing, like Paradise is not.
It didn't feel like it when we were there, but it's a vacation.
Did Mercedes does she think Tyler Plater still? Is that still a thing?
I would say, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it came across like that for sure.
Yeah.
Would you ever do Paradise?
Would I ever?
Well?
No?
What about? What about?
What a weird question? We're buying a home the other next year. He's like, so.
You guys, way, my next question was.
Setting myself off.
And you're not going to do because you guys are planning on getting married, are you?
Did you start any wedding plans yet?
Nope, we have decided. Thank you twenty twenty five. But realistically, like you know, the drill two months on a show on the Bachelor, everything's expedited. You really don't get to know the entirety of somebody in two months, I knew Gabby and Ariel more than I knew Zach at the end of the day. But I knew his heart, and I knew his morals and values, and I knew I wanted to be with this man. I think you'd make a great father and husband, and that's what sprung me into this relationship. But I lost my train of thought.
But like what you were saying, which very kind and sweet of you, pay but where we now finally get to go on our own time and our own pace. And we get asked all the time, like when's the wedding date, like hurry it up, like all this kind of stuff, and it's like, nope, chill, Like we're finally getting to date, spend time together, build our relationship that is growing. And no, we don't have like a specific date because our entire relationship was leading up to a date.
Learning so much about each other every day, Like after the show. Didn't know how we treated his family, his mom, how he treated a server. Does he tip twenty percent?
I don't know you are you Are you a tipper after tax? Or oh yeah, okay, good, So you guys both tip, but you don't know, no wedding.
Plans well, honestly, just enjoying this so much this stage in our relationship.
Sure, yeah, I hope you guys do.
But have you thought at all about where you would where it would be your dream.
Wedding Turks and cacos on the beach? Okay five, probably Mayweather.
I've heard this all.
I'm like, I'm cool with the courthouse and like, let's have it a big ceremony.
So and I'm cool with that too, I'm all for.
And we talked about like ideally when we actually you know, put pen on paper and we get it set up, we want to do like a destination wedding, very small, very intimate, close family and friends, like very intimate, but make it fun for everyone. So we want to go somewhere cool and leave it at that, make it a vacation kind of everyone.
It's also really hard to justify spending thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars toward a day, a very special day, mind you, or put that money towards a house that's going to be ours for the rest of our lives, or were we turn into like a rental property or that. But do you know what you mean, like it's not a smart wedding. Yeah, really it really is. But it's such a special thing.
I know.
It's so hard because we did both right, Like we did the courthouse and we did the wedding, and I would I recommend the courthouse too. The courthouse is great. But I wish I could sit here and say, like, no, like the courthouse is enough, you don't need the big wedding because obviously financially that is like would be the best answer ever to be like, you don't need a wedding. The courthouse is you know, the day, But like the wedding was the best day of our lives, the number one recommendation.
Wedding week, it was.
And that's what's nice about doing a destination wedding is because all your friends and family come in and it's like a vacation forever.
Highly recommend that. Like Charleston was so fun. We had days to see people and spend with them versus like a few hours where you're like fighting for time with everyone. The biggest have we got to keep costs down, which we didn't follow was small, small wedding, like the less.
I think it's I think it's going to grow. I think at the end of the day, it's just kind of like, yeah, that they've got this person. Yeah, they're getting married, so kind of you know what I mean.
I think it grows, not that I've been in the wedding plane it does grow, but totally.
How about honeymoon?
What would you want to do? Like tropical beaches?
I love being outside. I love palm trees, love dolphins, all things. Let's go.
Yeah, yeah, I'm like all four. I love tropical, always have, but like unique countries, like going somewhere where you typically wouldn't go and just have a vacation, like I would love to do it, like Tokyo or or have.
You been in Tokyo?
No? No, not honeymoon. Are we talking only about honeymoon?
You guys planning a trip anytime soon?
We really our Christmas presents to each other. We're going to Hawaii.
I'm so justus. Always wanted to go there. I feel so called to go see Hawaii.
Yeah, we are so proper. We're going to Kowhai. Am I seeing that right?
I mean?
Yeah, super excited.
When you guys go.
May third for like two weeks to thirteenth.
Yeah, that's so excited.
I did find out for Christmas, instead of you know, maybe just getting a bunch of gifts here and there, let's get something for us experience.
My sister and I are doing that. We've said we want to like do some sort of trip together in February. We haven't like booked anything, but just let's just get something like really small for each other and then we'll go away and do something fun.
Yeah, exactly we're doing for Christmas.
For Christmas month, we wrote out a big calendar and we are watching a different Christmas.
Movie every night.
We made like a calendar schedule.
I like that.
So Tony is Bad Santa, I think, which we neither of us have ever seen?
Is it?
Okay? We haven't seen that one.
So my question to you guys is what would be on your list? Three movies Christmas movies that would have to be on your list?
Christmas movie whoever wants to go? Okay home alone? One or two?
One?
Okay? My favorite Christmas movie National Christmas.
Vacation on the Plane.
Only thoughts my thoughts.
No, he loves it on our calendar.
He watched it early, to be honest.
To be honest, I watched it today and thought it's not that great.
Whoa, It's really not.
It's just not so maybe we can replace it. Could Christmas Time Watch? I love Ellis a Christmas Time. I don't think it's an underrated Christmas movie.
And I really love Chevy Chase and I love like Caddy Shack. But Christmas vacation is probably the weakest vacation.
Like Vegas, all of them.
Yeah, Vegas vacations are going okay, but keep going so home alone.
Yeah, that's my christmasication for Zach.
Okay, number two.
We're going back okay, Oh my goodness, I don't know.
Uh uh. The Santa Claus movies one, okay, one and two are great.
Yeah, what's your third movie?
Is it Santa Claus two? Or is it something like Elf?
Oh?
Okay, we'll do alf awesome.
I love I would say.
You know what's in a kind of underrated movie that's not talked about a lot is Fred Klaus Vince Vaughn.
I haven't seen that too, have you seen it?
I think Vince.
Is so funny, pretty funny for Christmases kind of I love everything is.
He's a dirt bag in the beginning, and then he turns pretty great by the end yet I don't know.
He has figured out his thing and he's just rolled with that for forever. And I'm not mad about it at all. I don't want to see him do anything else. I want him as that character in every movie. Just yeah, just do that.
So Christmasfication, Fred Claus and then your third one, the kind of.
Random that was in my vows love. Actually that's a controversial moment a Christmas movie.
I don't think that. Yeah, I love actually the Christmas movie for Christmases. Yeah, An.
That's on our calendar. That's on our Christmas calendar. Yeah, I think so that's okay.
I love with Adam Sandler. His style is on.
Point with Adam Sandler.
No movie that you're talkingbou Leonards number one trending on Netflix right now, real Adam Sandler animated, animated, and it's also musical, which I'm not crazy about musicals.
Spirited the Ryan Reynolds, What was this Ryan Reynold and watch that Will fare All.
Yeah, we watched it.
Wasn't it was.
You turned it on. It was a musical they were seeing the whole time. I was like, this is not what I expected.
No.
Or anything.
Sorry, Place Place play watch go to a plaut Cracker holiday.
Like the Rockets, the Nutcracker Ballet.
I don't see the Nutcracker, but I don't I have been to a play.
Do we have that New York? Yeah, we don't have.
Guy, You guys don't have Broadway.
How about New Year's Eve? Are you guys New York's people? We're not.
I'll be working.
When do you start.
Monday?
Oh? Coming up?
No, I'm not like Anick New Yors person either, I'll just probably be chilling.
Yeah, we were invited to like some parties.
Yeah, are you working Eve and day or just day?
I don't know forever? Will this? Do you think your last contract that you do?
So? So I'm actually not even on a contract. Okay, I'm just part time at the hospital on the floor that I was previously for my previous two contracts. I love the people, I'm comfortable. I know the charting systems, I know everything, so I know everything. Should not have said that I do not know. Yeah you do, but yeah, it's just what I'm comfortable with. So I'm going to go back there.
But yes, and then TVD, TVD, let's get this.
Cosmetic thing rolling, which it's kind of in the works, right, Okay, yeah, they kind of poached me out.
Actually, oh no, way, that's awesome, really exciting. Yeah, it's very exciting. Did you guys watch for a Bachelor?
Yes, okay, so I was really gung ho watching Gary. We were so excited for the first episode of Gary's season and we just got so involved with Paradise that had kind of dropped off here and there, but I kind of stayed in the loop, understanderstood what was going on. But I recently just like watched the overnights the Fantasy, and that's I missed basically the whole middle chunk.
Was that a triggering episode for you, Zach, not for him?
For me?
That's there always.
Yeah, it's it's triggering, triggering for all of us.
It's is it rough watching watching Fantasy?
We actually had this conversation not too long ago. It was a it was a phone call because he was in California and I was just I was just expressing that sometimes it just brings up old emotions kind of just like puts me back in that place of everything I was feeling. And then sometimes I get mad at myself that I didn't say more to you in that situation or you know, I did something differently, But I also can't beat myself up over that because yeah, in that moment, that's what I was feeling exactly. You can't change anything, and.
And you're trying to process so much more than you usually would, like, yeah, I'm sure you probably went to bed that I'd be like I should have said this, and I wish I said this.
Oh yeah, no, yeah, I still do. But he's but the great thing is is when I did bring that up, he's like, let's talk about it. What do you would you want to like, like, what do you wish, what do you want to address? What do you want to say to me? And I'm like, I don't even know. I don't even know, and it's you're just great. You try, you try your best to like help me through it.
Yeah, well it's it's tough.
And I obviously like I had my.
My wrongs on the show.
What I could have done better, and and like looking back, there's so much I could have handled it differently, but like right now and for a future, like what's important is her and like how she feels and I don't want her to have any sliver of doubt And I know how. I actually can't say I know how traumatizing it was for her because I not, I'm not her, But if I can as supportive as I can, Yeah, because I'll love her through it all regardless, no matter how pissed off you are about it or want to say something to me like I'm here for you, Like I'm here for it, Like you have every right to feel that, like talk to me about it. So I always try to be there for that. And it's tough to talk about though, So I don't blame her. Yeah, it's something you have to kind of inch towards.
Yeah, it's one of those things that happens every season and maybe you step that episode season back that Watching this, I'm just like, well.
It's just it's just it's it's it's just inevitable, Like there's you know, the lead is falling for multiple people at the end, there's fantasy suits and things are going to get a little messy.
It's every time.
Yeah, that's always a messy episode, very very rarely is it not a messy episode? Do you have any advice then? Going for Joey, Well.
I was going to say, did you did you give Joey? Yeah, did you give him advice because you met him, right.
Yeah, So I met Joey real briefly at Charity's after the final rowse, and you know, I told him, I was like, just enjoy the ride, have so much fun, Like there's nothing I can tell you that you know it's gonna make everything just so great, and just have fun with it. Live in the moment when I told him, And then I could just see it in him like he's gonna be just fine, Like he'll be totally fine.
You can even see at when he got announced how he was just like he did really well.
He's a very poised person. Yeah, that's a good word to describe. He very much reminds me of Jason.
He reminds me a lot of Yeah.
Like even just like the way they speak, the way they carry themselves, Like there's really something about Yeah, a lot.
Of people have heard a bad thing about Joey, No me either at all. But yeah, I think the Golden Bachelor just circling back to that is really It's cool. It's I think this was just like a cool new perspective on love and for the viewers to watch, and and I think it's also inspiring to for people in that age bracket that are watching and they're seeing that women say, you know, there is hope for me, even at this age, I still can fall in love and there's you know, still that person that's out there for me. So I think it's beautiful.
I think, is there anyone you guys want to see as the Golden Bachelorette if they do do one?
Kate Zach asked me this like a few hours ago, and I said, I think all would be All would be good, But I think my so diplomatic.
Sixteen seasons, you have the tune in every week, who do you want to watch?
I would say Kate, I forget her name, what's her name? Nancy, the one that was crying in the wedding?
We love her?
Yeah, pray for Nancy. She's great the Bachelor. Like, I think she's cool.
She is cool. She's like, she's like, you're like cool, Aunt. I don't know. She's so pretty, she's beautiful. She looked amazing at the woman tall.
Yeah, yeah, Kathy.
I think I haven't even met Kathy yet.
Girl, Kathy, she how could you?
I would say, my votes for Kathy really or Joan Joan.
She literally looks like a supermodel, Like she's super tall, long blonde hands. She's making a lot of oh is she Jon's getting on TikTok get a girl. But she went home because her daughter was dealing with severe post part impression and talked about, Yeah, she would also be a great one. There's a lot of really good They've got a lot of good options to choose from.
Yeah, yeah, a lot of green women.
Who's your number one?
My number one? Oh that's so hard. Faith was like one of our first guess. She got the first impression rose from the season. So I just feel like I had like a soft swat for her the whole time, and and she like made me cry because she's just like so like the way she speaks is just like so emotional. I really like her. I think she'd be great.
Was the motor second one.
Giving that out.
Okay, I'm gonna say Leslie, all right, let's yeah, well, yeah, of course, Leslie.
Very cool.
Let's get into uh, I know it's getting hot in here, and you guys gotta go, so let's get into some rapid fire questions, quick game.
Let's go.
Oh, I asked him, you guys name you guys go at the same time you ready? Wait?
Are we going to get a countdown?
I mean we'll just say the question and then just go in your head.
Okay, okay, let's go.
Who's more romantic?
Exactly?
Okay? Who's more organized?
Me? Oh what, babe?
I got all these organized panicked?
Really?
Is it?
Is it her?
No?
It actually is her?
But it was because I was talking about like I like to keep my office clean, but I honestly I just stay.
In my office.
I guess I keep our house more organ You do?
You do?
Okay?
And thank you so much. Who's more stubborn? Yeah? I picked up on that.
Who spends who spends more time on social media?
Who's a pick your eater?
Neither?
Neither everything.
I don't like spice, so maybe me.
You guys? Are a favorite restaurant in Austin?
Laura?
Yes, Laura is that? I've been there? That's awesome.
Yeah, that's one of the few Russians I've been to it.
I really want to go.
Yeah.
I just feel like it's an Asian barbecue spot, right, it's all wood inside.
Been there?
Yeah?
Very cool?
Who takes longer to get ready? Who's a better dancer? Zach?
Wow?
Move? Who's the better driver?
Yes, are you about good driver?
She's a great driver.
Okay, Joe and I parallettle parker than you.
Yeah, but I'll get us home safe.
Ship handle, always holding on to it.
Who's the who's better at pickleball? For our listeners, these are questions for Gary.
But you guys know we're both good.
We're both make a great team. Who's the funny one?
Who's the better cook? Would you say who's a better cook? Who is going to take the lead on the wedding planning?
Okay?
Great, Well, sounds like it's doing a lot of docu step up. She's bringing the last she's bringing the cooking. One lucky guy organizing the lucky guy. She's the total package.
