Hey, everyone, welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour.
I'm Joe and I'm Strina, and.
Today we have the woman behind bachelornation dot com, bachelination news all that, Danny is here. Welcome to Bachelor Happy Hour.
Hi guys, so happy to be back.
Welcome back, guys.
We love when Danny comes on because she does she takes over the hosting role.
She comes with all the tea, all the news, all the.
Details of everything going on in Bachelor Nation, and we get to just have a little chill gab session. So thanks for coming on today, Danny, and we'll be doing some Bachelor news today. But before we do, Danny, this is not your first time on Happy Hour. We actually had you on with us earlier this.
Year, and yeah, sorry I didn't. I'm just gonna go with that.
I just totally got lost because well, last time we had you on, we were.
In we were in the studio. Yeah, we were in studio in.
La So that and I grilled you guys with some questions that I don't think you've been asked before. So if people haven't listened to that episode, they definitely should check it out because I think I got some tea out of both of you all that people had not heard.
So you asked me a question. I think like the first question you asked me, I was like, where the fuck did you find that? What's like the deepest dive you ever took on someone within batriination that you've had to, like really go down a rabbit hole and you're like, how did I get here? It was?
Honestly, probably that one with you two is probably the deepest dive I've ever done. But I feel like I'm doing those pretty regularly, especially with some of the leads from early seasons that like I didn't necessarily watch in real time. I will just find myself sometimes down like a rabbit hole. I'll find myself everywhere being like, wow, I didn't know that. I didn't know. Like, so yeah, I go on Bachelor deep dives on the daily. It's part of my job, quite literally, I believe it.
Well for our listeners, Danny, what can they find on bachernation dot com Because for those of you guys that don't know, Danny basically runs Bachelnation dot com. It's like your one stop shop for everything Bachelor. So can you give us a little shameless plug there?

I also keep you guys updated with all the big announcements we get them like in real time, like when Joan was announced as the Golden Bachelorette Boom, it was up on the front page at Bachelornation dot com.
So I know there are lots of fan accounts and things out there.
This is the official show page from the producers of the show.
I run it.
We get all of the exclusive all the latest news, so check us out over there.
When one does apply to be on one of the shows, is there a tip that you could give them right now that makes an application somewhat stand out.
Oh that's a good question.
Question, you know.
I love when people apply themselves and are like shameless about it. I know a lot of people get submitted by like friends, family, whoever. But I think it's really genuine when people apply themselves and like can be really honest and candid and like shameless about really looking for love.
So I feel like, just be yourself, do it yourself.
If it's something that you really want to do. I feel like that's probably the best advice I have. I know a lot of people get on the show in a millions of different ways. Yeah, I feel like I love hearing the stories about I know Maria recently was talking about how she'd always really wanted to be on the show and like really wanted to find love or give herself the opportunity to find love in that way. I know Joan talked about being in a restaurant one night and looking around and seeing all these couples around her at the restaurant and then like going home that night and feeling called to apply herself. So I feel like I love when people just like really put their heart into it and apply themselves.
Again, I'm not on the casting team, so I don't get.
To pick, but like I love getting to like hear those kinds of stories and see that. So yeah, just like the always be yourself. But if you've ever been interested, apply, you know.
I think that's great advice because I do think that in the recent years, there's so many stories of people either getting nominated or getting scouted on Instagram, on a dating app. Joe got scouted in a like a Whole Foods and there is this like shame around applying for yourself of like, well does that mean like is that like not as cool as if someone like reaches out to me. But like if you're interested in doing the show, like what's the worst that could happen? Like you just don't get on the show, like put yourself out there. You never know what could happen. I applied myself. I mean, did I expect to hear back or plan on your own back? No, But like look where we are.
Now, you're literally married.
Yeah, but it worked out.
To be honest, I'm gonna spill. I applied when I was like right after college, and that is dandy.
So you never know my friends and I went to an in person pasting like in I think we was in Chicago because I went to school in Wisconsin, and I was like, you know what, We're just gonna go and have a good time. My whole group of friends from my sorority and I went. So you never know where it will take you. And now I work for the show, so and I'm married and found love in my own way, but like, it's just a fun experience, and yeah, you never know where it can take you.
You could be like Joe and Strina and find the love of your life.
You could be like me and somehow make your way back to the show in some way, shape or form.
Nice. Should we get into the Bachination news what we're going to break down?
Yes, I know, Joe, you have some experience with this from Clickbait the Bachelorination News of the week from back in the day.
And you know what, that was my favorite segment because I used to listen to Clickbait, especially like in the beginning of our relationship. I listened to every single episode like religiously, and I loved the Bachelor Nation News breakdown Bringing it back.
Our listeners were this episode, We're bringing back Chachination breakdown, and we have four articles within Bachination that we're going to talk about.
Yeah, it's a news from this week.
Yeah, there's always news going on in Bachernation. But since we'll be diving into some of the big news stories coming out in Bachriination and Danny is our bachelination news expert, we're gonna let Danny take the wheel today and introduce these stories to you guys.
Okay, So first up, there's a story that's been blowing up on social media. If you guys know who Trista and Ryan Sutter are, hopefully you do if you don't, they're our first bachelorette couple. They have been married for over twenty years. They have two I believe high school age kids, a son and a daughter. They've been together forever, deeply in love, probably like the OG bachelor couple that people are obsessed with and ride for. Over the past couple of weeks, people have been concerned about Trista and her whereabouts because of some of Brian's social media activity. He has been posting these black and white kind of cryptic photos with really emotional captions like missing her, feeling really sad, wishing he could talk to her, and the comments from bacchclorin Nation bands have been concerned. People are worried did something happen to her? Is something going on in their relationship. Ryan has since clarified and said that she's okay. There's some speculation that she's either away on some sort of trip or maybe she's filming some reality show. We don't really know exactly what's happening, but the posts are what do you guys think of a post?
The post? I don't know if you've seen them, but they're really heavy.
I think Joe like two days ago, was like are you seeing.
Think? Yeah, well I saw yeah.
Joe was like seeing it on social media, He's like, what is going on with this Tristan Ryan's stuff? And I was like, I don't know, like hopefully they're okay. And then I saw the post when I read the article like from start to finish with all the captions, And I don't follow Ryan on social media, so I don't know what his like standard of posting is, if this is like totally normal, if this is a little.
Bit unique for him.
But I was like, yeah, it's giving cryptic like it's giving, it's giving she's not here for Mother's Day.
She's still not here.
I missed her, but like where is she is the big question I feel like on everyone's mind, and like why can't he talk to her? And how long is she going to be gone for? When's she going to be back? Like it's very ambiguous. Obviously it's very emotion forward, but like zero facts about the situation, zero details.
I know, Joe, what did you think when you first saw it?
Yeah? I well, so I've met Ryan a few times in person. I mean I don't know him too well, but just like we've we've met we were we actually met them. I met her a few times when we met them in LA when we all went to the Bachelor.
Mansion for the Golden Bachelor finale.
Yeah, and just such a down to earth, just super chill, like really really nice guy. So for so to see those kind of posts, I would instantly think like something awful has happened, because yeah, like it's weird, like they're in black and white, and he doesn't really strike me as this type of Instagram poster I guess anyways, Like that's not really his that's not like what he's giving off. So that's initially where my head went. But then I saw the rumors circulating that she's potentially on Special Forces, which that's the rumor, we don't know if that's true, and that is more of an intense reality show. So I guess if I match up those cryptic posts with potentially being on that show, that makes more sense, because, like you said, he's come out and already said like nothing's wrong with her.
So yeah, and Special Forces is a very intense show. I mean, we've seen like clips of it, so I can imagine like if I was sitting at home and I couldn't talk to Joe and I knew he was on that show or any reality show can be an intensive filming process, but that one is especially unique. I would probably be sitting at home with some anxiety about like what he's going through and not being able to talk to him and all of that.
And it is the Spring.
I feel like a lot of reality shows film in the spring, So even if it's not Special Forces, I feel like it would add up if she was on something right now, filming something.
But yeah, no, I heard rumors about like Traders as well, you know.
Yeah, I think Traders films in the spring. Too.
Yeah, obviously we don't know there is another bachelorette.
Ali Fetataski man I was also like away filming something right now, so people are like, maybe they're together.
I don't know. But yeah, Ryan.
Did come back, I believe, like a day or two ago and said that he is not like a social media guy and that he was kind of just like posting his and that he usually just posts his dog and has a blue collar job and this isn't his thing. So I think, yeah, he realized pretty quickly that a lot of people still do follow him, and he was touched by the fact that people still really care.
But yeah, some of the posts were quite.
Sad, you know, and like, I want to know how you're doing. I really wish I could talk to you. I want to know how your day was. I want to hear your voice. And he did clarify that they're okay, their marriage is okay, everyone is fine. So I am glad to hear that because I was concerned at first, two before he kind of clarified, because I think a lot of people had the same reaction as maybe Joe did at first, like oh, this seems out of character for him, because it kind of started in like the beginning of this month and feels like it's carried on now through the month, and so hey, I mean, if she's on a show like that, clearly she's doing well because she's still there, so that's good news.
And if she's on some sort.
Of like wellness vacation like live, I hope she's ever a treat.
If she's on something where it's like I'm disconnected on a wellness tree. But you know what, I will say, the post seem really cryptic until the fact that he's confirmed, like nothing is wrong, like she's okay, everything's okay. Looking at them from a new perspective, like they're really sweet, Like it's it's actually like so emotional seeing and hearing just like this love and care that he still has for his wife after all these years, just like missing talking to her every day, Like the things that he's saying, knowing that they're not coming from a place of like they're in like something wrong is going on, It's like, oh wow, that's like very touching. I'm sure she's gonna come back and see that and her heart's gonna be so warm.
She did comment on one of them. She commented on the Mother's Day one with like hearts and crying emojis. I'm not sure if she did that herself or someone has her instat.
Maybe someone was like, get in there and comment on this pole you're getting divorced.
But yeah, he did write something like that.
He's like, I write what's on my mind at the moment, you know, I write about feelings without like regard for how they'll be interpreted on the internet. So he said, we're fine, just this fine. I just miss her. We miss her, which is sweet. I think it was paired with like the shift in aesthetics to black and white on his feed that like maybe got people nervous, because when I see a black and white seed or post and feed, my heart stops sometimes and I'm like, oh god, I hope everyone's okay. Like sometimes people post that when they are trying to share something more like solomn or so totally. Yeah. So I think that maybe it's because he seems to be going for like a new black and white vibe. Maybe on his Instagram do with you if you scroll back, he kind of does have some black and white photos going on, So I mean.
I also think it. I also think it makes sense too, that he could be somewhat desensitized from the fact that he does have a large Instagram following just because he's he's had it for so long. And then like it happens to all of us where we kind of just fall in this trap of posting what like we usually post and there's not like the social media engagement isn't as high. But then all of a sudden, when you do post something that people are like, WHOA, what's going on? You realize, oh shit, like a lot of people just saw that. It's the same thing as when Sarah and I talk about like, oh I said that on the podcast, I didn't realize people listen, Yeah, you're.
Doing so frequently sometimes you get the sensitized to the amount of people that are paying attention to it. And yeah, having met him, he really just seems like this like down to earth normal dude. I think there are people in this world, not in like a negative way, but maybe would be like ooh, like let's play into the fact that she's gone like stir the pod a little bit, like have people talking, and that can be a fun game to play.
But like, he's not that dude.
So I feel like he was just like sharing his emotions, sharing his feelings. Probably forgot that so many people are still like paying attention to him and his relationship, and was like, damn, I really struck a chord with my followers.
Yeah, I think we just got to keep in mind because I've met trist and Ryan too that like he's like a fifty year old dad.
Who lives in Colorado, you know what I mean, like think about how they use social media. I don't think he thinks about the.
There are like two hundred thousand people narrowly who follow him, So yeah, that's.
That's kind of what's going on there. I just wanted to clear up all is good with Trista and Ryan.
We are excited to see what she's been up to when she comes back, excited to see like what he posts when they reunite, because I'm sure it will also be really sweet and emotional, given how I don't know.
Thoughtful he's been with these posts while she's gone.
So yeah, if I think, if you remember from the time on the show, he would like write her love letters and stuff too, and so this is in line with what he does.
This is like an expressive person.
Maybe that's his love language.
Yeah, yeah, And I will say, like when Joe went unfilmed The Goat, which is out right now on Amazon Prime.
He filmed it last year.
He was gone for quite a while and I could talk to him very like infrequently, and it does make you like kind of like I can relate to Ryan in that way of being like, oh, like I missed him, Like I want to talk to him.
I can't, So like, yeah, wherever.
I'm excited to see the reunion of these two being gone because she's going to come back and be like whoa, Like what did I miss?
Yeah, I hope it wasn't one of those things where like he wasn't supposed to say that she was away for.
Real, I'm sure the last thing at Trista's Bengo card was coming back to Ryan stirring up Instagram drama.
People worry, truly, especially.
Just like you know, I'm worried about like her daughter getting to dance on time versus like Ryan talking about her being gone on Instagram.
Totally totally, I love it.
Yeah, Well that's the blook to Trista with whatever she's doing, and we look forward to their reunion. Okay, So our next story is about our beloved Rachel Nance from Joey season of The Bachelor. I did want to note for those of you that are listening, there are some mentions of sensitive topics regarding sexual assault. So if that is not something that you are comfortable listening to, maybe just fast forward a couple of minutes skip ahead. Just want to put that out there, because Rachel did talk about her journey with sexual assault and the hate that she received online during Joey's season airing of the show. She also talked about opening up about her family's beautiful culture and the unfortunate backlash she received after that while the show was filming. In a really beautiful, touching essay that she penned for Today dot Com, she wrote about it, I believe in some sort of like celebration of AAPI heritage month and also just like a celebration of her time on the show coming to an end. So I'm not sure both of you had a chance to read it yet, but it was really touching and moving, and she talked about how her experience with sexual assault led her to becoming a nurse, which she really just wanted to help people, and her time on the show her purpose going into the show was to find love, and then she kind of through the process recognized that her purpose was greater, and her purpose was to help people, including herself, embrace herself as she is, Embrace her culture, embrace her beauty, embrace her heritage.
So it was a really beautiful essay.
I really do encourage everyone who's listening, if they haven't read it in full, to read it in full, because Rachel's an incredible human and getting to hear the words from her is really special.
But I just wanted to bring it up here today so we could shine a light on her.
Yeah. Absolutely. We had her on Happy Hour and she was She was one of my favorite guests from definitely from Joey season, and she had gone through a lot, and we had her right off of right off of the show, and she was receiving so much unnecessary hate that we did address on the podcast. But yeah, I just thought she was so personable and just such a warm and nice person. So yeah, I mean, I think Rachel's great.
Yeah.
I liked the messaging about what her purpose going on the show was versus when she came off. How that perspective has changed because I think so many people go on the show with that same intention of like, well, my purpose is to hopefully find love, my hope is purpose is to make connections or you know, to travel and put myself in a unique situation. And I think that everyone probably comes off the show with a different understanding of maybe what their purpose was or how the show played a role in their life and their growth that they weren't expecting. I kind of want to start asking people that on the podcast, because I do think it's like a really insightful thing that she brought up about, like that change in purpose and perspective first from going on the show versus like coming off of it, because I also think it's very similar going on, but everyone comes off with such a greater, more unique purpose than they expected.
And I think for her, it's like it would have been really easy for her to just be like I'm heartbroken and I'm not getting you know, she's getting love, but I'm also getting hate on social media and for its just kind of to be an overall negative.
Expressing through this.
I didn't up finding love and now I'm getting verbally abused on the internet.
So the fact that she was able to turn it around and do it so quickly and then and be like, yeah, and I found I actually did have a purpose for being on the show, and then this is how I'm going to use it. I think is the healthiest and the best way you could go about it.
Yeah, it was really reflective.
She talked about that conversation that she had about the purpose with the show one of the show's therapists that they provide, and she talked about how like this wasn't the first experience that she had experiencing racism, but like she got so emotional during the women tell All because she felt like it kind of all came up from her whole life all at once, and for the first time, with like all of the women from her season and the people in the audience rallying around her, She's like, for the first time, I didn't feel alone, you know what I mean in that moment, And I think it was really beautiful to see and it was cool to see her kind of discover that purpose in real time almost, And I think that's why she had so many feelings in the moment and has been able to continue to share in such a polished, beautiful, elegant way after and take such a positive from a really difficult thing to go through that, like Joe said, could have led her to kind of have maybe regrets about going on the show. But in the essay, she wrote that she has no regrets about going on the show. And I think about so many others who have gone on the show, Like I know, Abigail just released or announced that she's releasing her book, which is so incredible because like she went on the show looking for love just like everybody else and ended up finding love on Paradise.
But I don't think she realized how.
Many people she was going to touch, not only in the death and hearing lost community, but just disability community overall. And I think about like the impact that someone like Rachel has right now and will continue to have for many years to come, with.
So many people who see themselves in her or see parts of themselves in her.
And maybe we'll feel more brave, maybe we'll feel stronger, maybe we'll yeah, just feel empowered by her being able to take something that was negative and turn into a positive. And you know, I love, love love our Bachelor Nation fans. They're like why we all get to continue to do what we do. But it is also a continued reminder that these are real people who are like having real life experiences, and I think Rachel really reminded us of that this time around. Like her family opening up and showing their culture so beautifully on the show was a brave thing to do and a really awesome thing to do and an educational thing to do for so many people who haven't been exposed to her family's background that I think it's a reminder that we should be like celebrating that and embracing that. And the fact that she had to, you know, even like put safety filters on her Instagram for certain words, is such a shame. That's not what any of this is about, you know, Like we want to be lifting these people up. And so I was really glad that Rachel had the platform to do so, because she did it in such a yeah, beautiful way that I could have never.
So yeah, I agree, I are agreed.
Yeah, Okay, we are going to shift gears.
Another friend of ours from Joey season, our girl Daisy, has gone public with a new new ish I suppose relationship, new old relationship. Okay, So she just this past week, I believe, has revealed that she officially has reconnected with her college boyfriend.
His name is Thor, and she talked about it name his name is.
He doesn't look.
Like a Thor Sehoto there was one like I know Colin, or like a Jacob like something.
Like yeah, his parents must be like really cool. And also to have named someone Thor like that many years ago, they must have been like a big Marvel fan.
Do you think it's like based on Marvel.
I don't think. I don't know where else the name comes from, like Thor is, yeah, the Marvel is there. When I heard Thor, I think of yeah, you think I think his.
Name, No, for sure, That's the only thing I'm picturing when I hear Thor.
She must have heard this his.
Whole life, like yeah, I'm every year for Halloween if I was have just.
Like you've got to. So they went to San Diego State University together. I think that she.
Talked about it a little bit on Beca Tillia and Tanya rad Scrubbing in podcast. She did mention that they reconnected. She had been talking like a little more vaguely about someone she had reconnected with from her past or she was dating again, but she confirmed with them that it is Thor. He is like a member of a famous racing family, like off road kind of racing, and I believe that's what he does with his life too.
I don't know exactly what his career is, like car racing like yeah, yeah, like off road.
Like off roading, like ATV.
Yeah, that kind of stuff that seems to be well ATVing is different than race cars.
It's not a car. It looks like these like monster trucky kind of thing.
Oh okay, like off on.
The dirt though, you know, I'm not like an expert in car things, but it's what's on his Instagram, Okay. And yeah, so we don't know a whole lot about how they reconnected yet, but it does seem that they are really happy. Daisy was sharing about it, saying that they didn't date for very long when they were in college, but they were good friends after and their friend group is still really close, so it kind of just happened naturally. After that she you know, wrapped her time on the show, they decided to give it a go, and they're giving it that go and it's going really well.
How long are they broken up for?
It's been like over four years because Daisy, I think, has been out of college for some time now, so he said it was like and they didn't date for very long. She said that he did break up with her when they were dating, but they just like both weren't out of place to have a relationship.
They were just like very much in college.
How long did they date the first time?
She said it wasn't very long. She didn't say six months?
Eight months?
What's a college relationship, you know?
Yeah, Oh it was casual. He wasn't like her boyfriend.
I don't know what college is like those those titles can be loose like. I'm not sure she didn't.
I think it makes sense. I think it all it checks out.
They searched up this off roading thing, so this is what it looks like. If it's like looks like small monster trucks in the desert racing around.
This is so cool. I just didn't I didn't even know this was a thing. Did you know this was a thing?
Yeah?
What did you call it? ATVing like two minutes ago?
Off whatever, It's all the same shit.
I think that's what he does. I think his family comes from like a lineage of that. But yeah, she did also talk about how like they're still trying to figure out like how public they want their relationship to be, because she doesn't feel like she like owes it to everybody, you know, to like share everything. But he's super supportive of like whatever she wants to do, but was definitely surprised when like, yeah, people started to like talk about it and know who he was, and so I think that's maybe why she decided to talk about it herself.
Well, I think it checks out too. I think for so many people that go on this show, I feel like the show really helps open them up to their own feelings and being vulnerable. And I think when you come off the show, even if you do end up being heartbroken at the end, you are usually ready to take that next step and to be in a real long term relationship. So that Daisy has now rekindled with an X and it looks like it's serious makes total sense to me.
Yeah.
I feel like people that come off the show either have looked back on their past relationships and been like, oh my god, it's so much clearer why these aren't for me, or maybe are encouraged like veer back towards one because like you do do a lot of self reflection, both on yourself and on your dating a relationship history while you're on the show, and it's such a learning experience. And I feel like people come off the show either like I'm really ready more than ever to be in a serious relationship, or like they go the opposite way and they're like living up their single life and they're like, WHOA, I need to take some time for myself. But I feel like there was rumors for a hot minute that she was dating someone and that she got back together with an X. So I'm glad that she kind of came out and confirmed it because I feel like there was talk about it for a hot minute before she was like she is she back?
Is she not?
Like we know she like she's not the Bachelorette, but like, is there a man involved?
What's going on?
Yeah, it's possible that maybe that's why she was not wanting to do the Bachelorette, you know, like who knows how soon after they reconnected. But I also do love when someone like Daisy, who has really blown up since the show, like has become such a like beloved Bachelor Nation member and internet star in her own you know, right, It's cool to see her go to someone like from her life that she just really loves and connects and cares about that like shows me that I'm sorry to use a bacheloration trope, but like it's very right reasons coded, you know, like she really just genuinely wants to be with someone in fine love. And it's not like she, you know, left the show and is downating the most famous person in the world. You know, it's like she really just seems to have wanted to find that person. And it's cool to see her reconnect with someone that clearly has been impactful in her life and has she's remained friendly with in that way.
So I think it's cool and I'm happy to see her happy.
I also saw those rumors and stuff about her maybe reconnecting with someone I know. I didn't want to cover it at all until she confirmed it because who knows. Maybe they were like figuring it out, you know, like they deserve, Like she said, she doesn't know how public she wants to be with the whole relationship, so I think that they deserved a minute to kind of like figure out what they wanted their relationship to be and how they wanted it to work.
Despite how famous and public her whole life just became.
Yeah. Absolutely, he has a famous name, so.
Yeah, yeah, it's giving Ari. Like what was Ari's last name? Wasn't he from like a race car driving family?
Yeah?
Yeah, Well now I'm just saying Thor not the last.
Thor and Daisy is like a new movie title.
No, that's the Hallwork movie for sure. Thor and Daisy and the Christmas Tree par like, oh my god.
Wedding invitation one day.
No, no, but I'm happy for it.
I do agree with you, like it is kind of nice to see, you know, she blew up so massively. I'm sure there's people in her DMS reaching out trying to connect. She could easily be like, you know what, I'm gonna like have a little fun like see what's going on out there and the dating scene, and just to hear that she kind of reconnected with someone from her past who like she's friends with they have mutual friends. Like I feel like the whole like j Loo Benoffleck thing is screaming like don't go back to an X these days, but like I feel like this is a unique situation where yeah, like they dated four years ago. It was like casuals in college and like now they've kind of found their way back to each other.
So I think that's sweet. I hope it wow.
And I think it's like something every couple in the semi public I has to talk about, is like the boundaries of how social media is going to play a role in that. And I think it's totally fair if she wants to like blow up her Instagram page with him or like not show him at all.
Yeah, I think that's valid.
I also think that there are specific circumstances in which it's like cool to go back to an next and I think someone like you dated when you're really young is one of those exceptions in my opinion, because like as long as no one did anything nefarious and like hurt each other and you know, no one was like it doesn't sound like there was anything like that that went down between them. It seems like they were just young and not ready for something serious. I have a friend a couple that are friends and they dated like in college and then they kind of like went their separate ways, really grew up. Five years they were apart, and then they found their way back to one another, and it kind of sounds like a similar situation. So they are very happy and in love and live together, and so I feel like.
It's totally possible.
I don't like always recommend going back to an next, but this seems like one of those circumstances where sounding.
So good one hundred percent I agree.
Yeah, Okay, We've got one more story for y'all this today.
We have some big news this week.
Former bachelor Colton Underwood is expecting his first child with his husband, Jordan Brown.
We're so excited for them.
I know this has been a road for them, Like Colton has been really open about experiencing some male factor infertility and his sperm count being really low. He talks about it on his podcast, he's talked about in interviews. Obviously being a queer couple, they have a different road to parenthood than any hetero couple would or a lot of hetero couples would, But they are now in the process of working with their surrogate and they're really excited. They have a baby boy coming this fall, which we are so excited for him. I feel like anytime you hear about a new life coming into the world, it is such a blessing, And especially with Colton and his husband, I know they had to work really hard for this. They also just celebrated their first wedding anniversary, so it's just like a time filled with so much love for them. And I was really really happy to see this news.
Yeah, I feel like I so Colton was he was on my season. I haven't talked to him in a while, but I'm friends with Colton and I'm I'm really happy for him. I feel like every time, I feel like every six to eight months, he's posting something that's like like a major life change. So yeah, very happy for him.
He's had a couple of years of like just multiple big announcements.
Yeah. I haven't met his husband, but yeah, really happy for them. And I'm sure, I'm sure that whole like the fertility and going through all that cannot be easy. I know it's very from what I heard, it's very expensive.
Well, it says in the article that they spent thirty five thousand dollars. I know, not three hundred and fifty I'm missing a zero, three hundred and fifty thousand dollars on the entire fertility process, from like getting an egg donor to getting a surrogate, to probably like the doctor's appointments, dealing with like the sperm count all of that. So, like it is a lengthy process and it is an expensive process.
Yeah, there are a lot of straight couples that deal with that's kind of stuff too, but I know even more common obviously in the queer community. And yeah, Coulton has said that they have a fertility team of nine people. In the article he talked about that, and so that's a lot of that's a big team again, yeah, having to do IBF. I know, he talked about how they found their egg donor as well, and you have to pay for the eggs as well, because that is not like as simple as donating sperm. It's a little bit more of an invasive process. And so they found an egg donor that they really connected with. They talked about how they didn't care at all about what this person looked at. We really wanted someone that was like adventurous and spontaneous. And they have created a bunch of embryos and right now they don't know who their surrogates, who the sperm that the spur surrogate is carrying the moment.
That is now is that a conscious choice that they've made to just not know or did they or they just I.
Think it's a conscious choice that they have made, because I'm sure you could say, like, okay, the first because they say they are intending on having two children. One will be Colton's biological son, one will be Jordan's biological son. But they don't know what sperm was used for the first one this child. So but they also said that they feel like they'll be able to tell. Yeah, so that'll be interesting. I can't imagine not knowing.
Well, Colton's like six six, so he's a big blond.
I think eye color plays a role here as well, like if the baby has doesn't have Colton have blue eyes, Like if the baby has blue eyes, ye have, but.
So many I feel like I feel like majority babies come out with blue eyes.
Well baby, your ipover the ipower isn't like settled for like six months to a year.
Eyes kind of changed.
But yeah, and hair color I guess too, Like a lot of babies.
Are born blonde and then they go Adams also has light here. I think he's got great here now.
But yeah, they.
Did say that they plan on having two kids, and so whoever sperm wasn't used this time will be used next time. And so I think if they end up not being able to like quote unquote tell, they'll they'll figure it out. They'll ask you know, their fercility team of nine people to know which one, and I guess when they have another kid, they will use the other person's I know, like we were talking about this beforehand, but Neil Patrick Harris and his husband have twins and they used I believe sperm from each of the dads for the twins, and they still don't know which one was which, and they don't want to know which one was which.
So I just like really feel like that's giving mama mia and like the kid is going to be like, which one of you is my biological dad? But also like then they're gonna be like but I don't care because like you're both my dad's.
It's nature versus nurture too. I feel like kids so often just like take on the environment they're in. Like I think nurture for me in my family was so much stronger than nature, you know what I mean.
And then Colton said he believes in nature over nurture. He believes like that's why they were really keen on finding an egg donor with certain personality traits because he feels that that will play a big role in the child's personality. But I've always I'm so intrigued by the whole donor process because everyone is looking for something different, right, Like some people are like I just want these genetic traits. Some people are looking for personality. But I've always like, I don't know, Like imagine someone's coming in and they're like, yeah, this is who I am. I'm like, very adventurous and very spontaneous.
But I also sometimes feel like people.
Don't have a very accurate opinion of themselves, or like they see themselves one way and other people see them another way. So it's like, am I just gonna trust this person? Like they think they're adventurous and spontaneous, but like maybe if I spent like two years straight with them, I'd be like, that's not who you are all. I don't know, I'm overthinking this'ly.
Put a lot of trust in the donor process, whether that's sperm or egg. But I feel like I'm just really excited for Colton and his husband to get to like showcase a cool way of building their family and a cool like LGBTQ plus family because I feel like, I mean it is obviously so common.
There's millions and millions in the world, but to.
Get to see it on a platform like his, to get to share his experience with not only male factor of fertility, which is something that not a lot of or male factor infertility that's something that not a lot of people talk about, but also getting to see like how a gay couple builds their family.
You know, there's millions of ways they could do it.
They could adopt, they could have a surrogate, they could if it's two women, one could carry, they could do reciprocal IVF Like, there's a million ways to do it. And so I think it's cool that just like for Colton and his audience and the Bachelor Nation audience to get to like hear about his story and hear about how they're building their family in their own really unique.
Way, because I feel like it's not talked about publicly enough.
And yeah, especially someone like Colton, who you know, was like a football star and was the Bachelor, It's just really beautiful to see him come into himself and to see him build this really beautiful life with his husband.
I'm like loving getting to I.
Like Joe said, every few months Colton has like something new and big going on, and like I'm living for.
All of them.
I love getting to see this side of him. He seems like so authentically right now.
Yeah, yeah, And I do think that for till Like, there's so many different fertility journeys, and I think being able to have them be so open about theirs is just it's great.
You know.
I feel like everyone gets pregnant in different ways and goes about having children in different ways.
Yeah.
Yeah, I hope it will help others, you know, in similar situations. And I hope it will help like inspire other families to look into like many different ways to build their family. And I yeah, I'm really excited for Colton and his husband. I can't wait to see their little baby. It's going to be really cute. It's like a boys club. There's going to have three of them.
It's gonna be really cute.
Did they talk about how they picked their surrogate at all?
They did.
They said they have like a it's almost like an online dating kind of thing.
They said it was like you could see different like profiles.
I think it was like a concierge surgeon service that that's kind of like what they do. Wait, did you say surrogut or donor surrogate surrogate. That's actually a good question because that was for the donor process. I'm sure about their surrogate. A lot of times surrogates are really private, you know, like they don't they don't share or I know, like Claire Crawley talked about her surrogate when she had one and was like, we are still really really close with her, I like sent her updates and things like that. I'm actually not sure if Culton talked about how he found the surrogate, but maybe it's through another one of those like kind of services.
Right, But that's interesting that the egg donor was like almost like a dating profile.
Yeah, such, Yeah, yeah.
I do recall him, yeah, talking about that in the article and how it was kind of like a it was it must be real kind of fun to do that with your partner, you know.
That's cool.
Yeah, that's really cool.
Yeah.
But yeah, So that is the update on Coulton.
We're very excited for him or wish him and Jordan and they're growing family all the best.
And that's the latest Bachelor Nation tea. I hope you guys feel caught up to speed.
I hope you guys feel like you are cued in on everything that's happening.
We're sending love to everyone.
I you know, we like it's been fun to like chat about everyone, but I also feel like it's again a good reminder, like we're sending positive vibes to all these people all the time. We're keeping it love and positive in our comments and things like that. So yes, all right, we also have a fun game to play, because you know, I like love games and I.
Love Oh my God, and y'all want to forgo, we're playing a game.
So yeah, before I go.
I always we do a game with our guests at the end of every episode, and I always get so stressed when we have to be the ones in the hot gay.
Yeah, it's just gonna be some Bachelor Nation opinions. We're just gonna do some rapid fire questions with you guys, kind of like how you do with other folks that come on your podcast. So for I know you guys are rewatching a lot of seasons of the Bachelor right now with Happy Hour. Do you have a favorite lead, a favorite Bachelor or Bachelor atte this to watch? Obviously, you know a lot of them personally, But do you have a favorite one to watch?
Oh, so we only we've only watched We only rewatched two.
We watched the first episode of Peter, the first episode of Ben.
Yeah, so I guess if we're gonna go. I mean, this is rapid fire. I'm Pete. I like watching Pete.
I think Joey.
I know it's easy because he was the most recent, but he might be one of the most unproblematic bachelors in a while, Like when I think back through like even like Ben, who is such an amazing bachelor, like telling two women at the end he's falling in love with them, Like he had some like iconic controversial moments. I feel like Joey's one of the few that's come out like really clean.
Well, watching watching Ben that first night, I was like, I actually want to watch more of him because you you saw him like slowly step out of his shell, just like that night one. Like as the episode went on, like he got more and more like charismatic and comfortable, and I was like, Oh, this guy's gonna be fun to watch. Yeah, as the season goes on.
We had a great interview with Ben.
If you haven't listened to it listeners, You guys should go check it out because he was so young, but he was telling us about how he was like I was twenty five being like I'm going to be single forever and I just need to like accept that. Like it was a really interesting interview. But anyway, we yell at our guests all the time because it's supposed to be rapid fire, and they give them answers and look at us having a full.
Conversation that's okay. Do you have a Bachelor Nation couple that has surprised you? Like who you really didn't expect to hit it off, but has.
Uh that has hit it off that surprised us?
Oh you know what this?
I actually I have one Christina Mandrel and Bryden.
That's who I was going to say. They were in my brain. I was like, if you guys didn't have one, yes, they are so cute.
Because they totally make sense.
Yes, But like, would I have independently been like, you know who the two people we should like set up are?
I don't know if I would have thought about it. So, yeah, they surprised me. They seem really happy.
I'm going to say, I'm going to say Ashley.
I and Jared they had a journey.
Yeah, is there someone that you would love to see as a lead? Either maybe that hasn't been a lead yet, or maybe that has that you'd love to see have another go Hmmm.
I mean I would have liked to see Maria as the lead. I think she would. I think she would have been.
Cut you know who I would have loved to see as a lead, even more now knowing her. She'll never be the lead because she's now married with a kid. But I know that she was close a couple of times. Was is Tia Booth? I think Tia would have been so fantastic and her time just kind of like never came. Unfortunately, she was close a few times, and I think that she would have been terrific.
Yes, she would have That's a good answer. I like always I think about this question a lot in my free time. I'm like, who would I like to see as a lead?
What would you like to see? Oh, I even if they're like in a relationship, like, who's someone you're like.
Well, because she's still single, I always be curious to see Demi Burnett as a lead. I feel like she's just so unique and says whatever, is on her mind. And I also think it's cool that, like she's got a really interesting background, and I feel like Demi could be someone that could be interesting to see in that role. But yeah, I think about that all the time, Like, who would I'd like to see.
As the lead?
Yeah, I actually I this is like a weird thing to say because you're my husband and I don't want you to date other ones, But I always, I actually think you would have been a great lead.
Joe, Thank you, You're welcome, thank you.
Okay, if you could pick five single people from Bachelor Nation to go on Bachelor in Paradise, I want to know who you would pick Jesus single, Like, let's let's come up with like a dream Paradise scenario.
Sorry, no, nothing, all right, I'm gonna go. I'm just gonna just rattle them off. I'm gonna go Clayton eckerd.
W oh good one, good one, Joe.
We'll do Maria. Yeah, let's go Rachel from this current season, give me Xavier from Charity season. I'm gonna do. Hope, what do I guture out?
Four?
You're at Clayton, Maria, Xavier, and Rachel Rachel?
Okay, and then five would be bring back Lace again.
Bring she's in her single mom era. Yeah, I love that. That's a great great cast editions.
I think Katie Mo would be fun to bring back. I believe she's single. I think I'm trying to think who else is single right now. I mean I would love to see Peter Webber on it again.
I think he would be so good.
Yeah, Peter.
I kind of think if there's like anyone else.
Peter replaced Lace, replace laced Peter.
I mean there's a lot of there's a lot of single people, Like I think Andrew Spencer is always really fun to watch.
I'd like to see Andrew and Greg on the.
Andrew and Greg on the same season would be fun with Victoria.
With Victoria also throw her and Peter I want.
Yeah, there's a lot there's actually a lot of like good single people.
To do a Paradise season with.
I think that's like it sounds like a really fun All Stars.
I like the idea of Clayton though, because he would be I think he would thrive in Paradise.
I think you'd have a great time.
Yeah, all right, last one out of any like Bacchlorination kind of like Lore News Show, Do you have a Bacheloration hot take?
Do I have a Bachelor Nation hot take?
Like unpopular opinion?
Yeah, I do.
Let's hear it.
Film Golden in one and cast people from one area of the country. That's my that's my unpopular opinion.
I don't know if that's unpopular, but I mean, yeah, it's definitely an opinion, like cast them all in Florida.
Cast them all from Florida, yeah, or just from one place.
Hmmm.
I don't know if like it's an unpopular opinion. I'm trying to think, Danny, do you have one?
I do.
I thought about this I and I actually don't hate when I know it's like obviously not the goal of the show ever, but like I don't hate when couples break up. And I think that's kind of a hot take because there are so many beautiful, successful couples, marriages, families. But I also think that, like it is reality, and part of reality TV is like real life, and real life also comes with breakups and divorces, and that's just real. And anyone who says it's like scripted or not real, it's like, well, it doesn't always work out, And so I kind of think it's like I never am rooting for that ever, ever ever, But like I also like when couples are willing to talk about it reflect on it. I think like JP and Ashley Rosenbaum have done such an amazing job at like continuing to co parent, and people were so myself included, like devastated when they split. But I also think that, like they both seem really happy now and thriving, and they have like a really beautiful family still, and so I don't think it's like the end of the world per se, which I guess is a hot take because obviously the goal was always like finding love, and I look at people like you two, and I'm.
Like, that is the goal, but it's also not always reality.
And so I guess my hot take is that like not that I yeah, like like that, but it's it's okay when I don't. I don't like, my life doesn't come crumbling down, you know, Like I think it's like that's.
Part of that's part of relationships in general, not just relationships that come from the show.
Yeah, I like that take because I do think so many people are like, oh, the show doesn't work if they don't end up together for the rest of their lives. But it's like that is just life. Like people date and then they break up. People get married and they get divorced, and like there's so many relationships that are you know, maybe have ended in divorce or separation, but lasted a really long time. Like they were a success like they found love like Ashley and jpr great example, they have kids together. They're like, you know, maybe didn't work out for forever forever, but like that doesn't mean that they weren't a success story. Like yeah, look at the like they wouldn't have their beautiful children.
Yeah, people sometimes can focus on the negative in those situations, but I like to like spin it and even if the even if it isn't a long lasting relationship, like kind of talking about what we talk about with Rachel's like, there's still purpose there. Like I don't look at that as something that's like, oh, that's a quote unquote failure like to me, or like the show quote unquote doesn't work, Like to me, that's an opportunity for people to like grow and find what they really are looking for. And it doesn't mean that they didn't really value their time together. And so yeah, I guess that's kind of a hot take that it's just like it's okay when that happens, and there still can be a lot of beauty and love and growth that comes out of it, just like any relationship anywhere. That's the kind of relationships that happen that come from the show. They're very real, which comes with good and bad.
So yeah, yeah, what a positive.
Well, my hot take is not as positive.
I'm going to say that everyone out there that says like I don't want the drama, I'm just here for the love stories is not being honest with themselves because this franchise is built on both drama and heartbreak and feuds and fighting as much as it is built on love and romance. And I do feel like you need both elements for the show and the season to be successful and exciting and enjoyable. And people love to hate, like that's part of the fun. Is like it's sometimes it's not that deep. It's like, oh, this person drives me crazy, like they're the villain or whatever. And I mean some people take it too far into the next level on social media, but like people that are like I see comments that are like I don't want the drama, Like I just want the love. But like I truly don't think the show would be as successful if the drama wasn't a part of it. And I think the drama can make it fun sometimes.
Yeah.
Yeah, I also think that they should make like a competition show like I think the French.
I should just keep expanding into.
Oh, like Bachelor Winter Games, like the Olympics.
Yeah, I want like Bachelor pad.
Yeah, I want to be a thing. That's true. Yeah, let's make money shows money involved in that.
Yeah, I'll go back. You compete for money. I already found love.
Yeah that's true.
Yeah, bring bring back like mad, like a couple of Olympics, and you guys can go win some money.
That'd be pretty cool.
Well, Danny, thank you so much for coming on BET your happy hour. Truly, it's always great when you come on because you do all the work and you're great to talk to. So thank you so much. We really appreciate it.
