Is it too easy to obtain Australian citizenship or do we make it hard for people?
The Federal Opposition is complaining that the waiting time for migrants to obtain citizenship after applying has blown out to 410 days – despite the number of applications dropping by 100,000 over the past year.
A little over a year seems a small price to pay for the privilege of Australian citizenship.
However, critics say the waiting time risks our economy losing much needed skilled workers.
Herein lies the problem. Why do we sit back and complain about that rather than question why we can’t get Australians into these key positions we’re filling with foreigners?
