It’s quite coincidental that today is the International Day of No-Violence because I’ve decided to take a stand. Not against physical violence but what I’m calling psychological violence. 

If you’re a regular listener, you can pretty much guess that I’m talking about the abuse thrown around by gutless, internet trolls. The keyboard warrior that develops a spine when sitting behind the safety of a computer screen.

The impetus for this stand I’m taking is the horrid abuse that has been directed at television personality Erin Molan. I don’t know Erin from a bar of soap. I wouldn’t even particularly call myself a fan as such. But some of the vitriol directed at her via social media by gutless basement dwellers of late is extraordinary.

I know Erin’s dad. He’s a decorated soldier. He’s raised his kids the right way. However, even if that wasn’t the case, there is no excuse for some coward to spew bile at a young mother via social media.

It was also in the news today that a Tasmanian councillor made the drastic decision to resign on live radio because of online trolls. 

Until now, I’ve copped a bit of abuse on our Facebook page and I’m OK with that because I’ve got broad soldiers and I understand how pathetic these people are. Up until now, I’ve simply deleted comments that were abusive or laced with profanity. That all stops tonight. 

If you want to have a go at me, go for your life and call 13 27 10. Roll the dice if you’ve got the guts. But if you decide to abuse me, Chloe or any other listener or contributor on social media, you will be immediately banned from our page and from the program. No second chances. I’ll also be calling trolls out whenever and wherever I find them.

We all whinge about the lack of manners people have these days, so let’s do something about it.
