The idea of friends squaring off in a dance battle might not be new, but Austin-based startup Virtual Arts is taking the idea into the virtual world with its debut app, DanceFight. Similar to apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels or Triller, which let users post and view short-form videos, DanceFight is aiming to enter the video-based social media sphere and capture Generation Z’s competitive nature. Virtual Arts recently debuted the app and closed on $2 million in seed-stage funding to further develop the platform. It’s available on the Apple App Store and will be launched soon on the Google Play Store.
