Teddy Swims has a lot of impressive tattoos all over his body, but the most impressive is one that doesn’t get seen as often as it deserves.

During a recent interview with Mix 947’s Sean Mack, Swims shared an update on one of his most impressive (and enormous) tattoos which is on his back.

“I found this meme that’s floating around the internet and it’s Jesus crossin’ up the devil in basketball,” Swims shared of the inspiration behind the ink, which is still in the progress. “We went back and of course added some Jordan 1’s on him because if Jesus was ballin’ he’d be wearin’ Jordan 1’s, obvously.”

Having a hard time picturing Jesus in Jordan 1’s? Worry not, because Teddy took it upon himself to strip his shirt off and give fans a real-time update on the ink.

The new piece is clearly not Swims’ first, as he’s covered from head to toe, but he also promises its not his last as he says he has tattoo artists regularly offering to come give him new ink while on tour. “I just kind of turned my body into a little art gallery of whatever they want to do,” he said, admitting he’s opened up any available space on his legs to local tattoo artists in various cities while on tour.

“Last year when we were on tour a lot of people hit me up on Instagram asking ‘Can I come tattoo you when you’re here?’ So I get them to kind of just design whatever,” he said. “You can see there’s a whole bunch of signatures all over… I just make people design whatever they want and sign it.”

While the ink is impressive, his songwriting proves even more impressive as he recently celebrated his very first #1 on the Billboard charts with “Lose Control,” which he co-wrote alongside Julian BunettaJoshua ColemanMarco “Infamous” Rodriguez and Mikky Ekko. The recognition is extra special for Swims, who admits he was worried his songwriting would never be accepted after getting his start with covers.

“I think it’s so beatiful,” Swims said of the song’s success. “Hearing people cover it is such a blessing to me because coming from covers on YouTube, it’s such a justifying thing to see people covering my song now. I was so afraid I was going to be stuck in covers and no one was ever going to like my own music… grateful is an understatement.”
