Chatting it up with Audacy’s Mike Adam at Hard Rock Hotel New York, Mimi Webb joined us this week to talk all about her brand new song “Mistake,” what it was like to work with Ryan Tedder, and more.

Sharing who she played the track for first, Mimi recalled, “It was my management team. I went straight from the studio straight to my manager's house in L A because I was just, like, so excited. And, also It was so different to all my other songs. I was really nervous as well and worried, so I kind of was like, ‘right, let's just get there, all of us in, everyone can hear it and see what they think.’ And yeah, everyone was like, ‘Wow, this is really, really sick.’”

Despite revealing she wrote the song back in October, and she’s been sitting with it for 5 months or so, Mimi loves “Mistake” now, just as much as the first day. “Oh, my God obsessed. I'm obsessed with it because it's just so fun.” Once again mentioning how different it is from her previous songs, “I think it's a song that's got a different structure to it as well.” Wondering which rapper she’d put on the remix, Mike asked, “Oh, Central C,” Mimi manifested.

Her first time working with Ryan Tedder, Mimi talked about the creative process, sharing the famed producer and songwriter suggested, “What do you think of maybe doing something in this world?”

Going into it, Mimi “knew the whole idea of what I wanted it to be in the concept, but to then take it down more of a jungle beat slash DMB kind of route. I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is scary’… And I think Ryan could tell I was just like looking at him with like big eyes, like are we really doing this? And he was like, ‘Come on, let's just see, and if it's awful, we we just won't release it.'” As it turns out, it was no “Mistake.”

Mimi went on to divulge and dish on shows that inspire her, and reality TV faves, if she’s ever broken down a song for an ex, and her upcoming shows with Benson Boone and how the two formed their friendship. As well as receiving anxiety advice from her famous friend Lewis Capaldi.
