If there’s one thing you can count on with Country mega-star, Jelly Roll, it’s vulnerability. Whether he’s on or off stage, the 39-year-old is always willing to wear his heart on his sleeve and he’s showing that once again with his new release, “I Am Not OK.”
The Nashville-native took to social media this week to share the new song that focuses on mental health struggles — something he’s is very familiar with. Regularly battling depressive times and anxious spirals himself, Jelly is taking action by providing hope and validation to those battling similar struggles.
“I wrote ‘I Am Not OK,’ because a lot of people in the world are not OK,” Jelly said of his intention behind the new song. “It doesn’t matter what you have or what you don’t have, people still have problems.”
He continued, “Mental health is real. I have prided myself on being someone who makes real music for real people with real problems and it’s OK to not be OK. I hope this song helps people or at least lets them know they are not alone.”
