From 'The Daily Score' (subscribe here): In a stunning move, the Cubs hired Craig Counsell to be their new manager and fired David Ross, the club announced Monday afternoon. Counsell agreed to a five-year deal worth $40 million, sources told 670 The Score. The $8 million average annual salary is the most ever for a manager in MLB history.

On this edition of The Daily Score, Mark Grote was joined by Score teammate Chris Emma to react to the club's move to replace Ross with Counsell. The guys also discussed the possibility of Bears quarterback Justin Fields making his return. On a short week as a matchup against the Panthers looms on Thursday night at Soldier Field, Chicago doesn't know yet whether Fields will be medically cleared to return. Fields on Monday remained limited in his work as the Bears held a walk-through, and the team is waiting to see if he can clear the final hurdles before returning from a dislocated right thumb.
