A massive 1-gigawatt (GW) "hyperscale" artificial intelligence datacentre called Project Ares has been proposed for Murranji Station in the remote Barkly Region of the Northern Territory. Developed by Energy North, the off-grid campus will cover 19,150 hectares and combine solar power, massive battery storage, and gas energy.
