Art Matters #26 - David Williams from Sincere Apologies and Shirley Dougen from The Hut Gallery
Intro Track: Paprika Pony, Kim Gordon, No Home Record, 2019
Today I chatted with David Williams, about Sincere Apologies — a deeply human and quietly powerful participatory performance exploring what it really means to say “I’m sorry.”
Created by Dan Koop, Jamie Lewis, and David Williams, and based on an original concept by Roslyn Oades and David Williams, Sincere Apologies is part theatrical ritual, part social experiment — a show that invites audiences to reflect, connect, and maybe even heal, through the simple but profound act of apology.
It’s been described as gentle, nurturing, and surprisingly funny, where everyone gets involved just a little bit, and nothing is ever compulsory. David joined me from a quiet nook in the Sydney Airport to talk about where this idea came from, how it works, and why apologising might just be one of the most meaningful things we can do together.
Happening this Friday 17th Oct At Burrinja Cultural Centre in Upwey you can find all the details and tickets on the Burrinja website
- this is one of those shows that stays with you long after you’ve left.
We then heard a recording of my chat with Shirley Dougen from The Hut Gallery - I visited the Hut in Ferntree Gully last week to check out the latest Members exhibition - running until the 31st Oct it is well worth the visit! Check out what's on and when at thehutgallery.com.au
