Robach and Holmes cover the latest news headlines and entertainment updates and give perspective on current events in their daily “Morning Run."

Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Welcome everyone to the Morning Run on this Tuesday, November twelfth.

I'm Amy Robox and I'm TJ. Holmes. Always appreciate you going along for a quick run with us. And on this morning's run, President Trump is hiring filling at least three more key positions in his new administration.

Meanwhile, President Biden and VP Harris make a joint public appearance. It's their first since her election loss.

Also, the so called Trump pump continues. If you own bitcoin, you already know what I'm talking about.

And New York Mayor Eric Adams wants to get it on in court sooner rather than later.

Plus, American airlines have stopped flights to Haiti after two planes were hit by gunfire.

And Trump might not be a thirty four time convicted fellon much longer, a judge rules today in his hush money case.

Plus millions lost internet service overnight in a major outage that appeared to have the phone at Verizon scratching.

Their heads, and forty three escaped, thirty have been captured, thirteen still on the run. The monkey hunt continues in South Carolina.

And this morning an honor for famed abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Rather, that's now General Harriet Tubman. We'll explain.

All right, we begin our morning run with two words. You're hired. President elect Trump continues his hiring spree and has filled several more key positions.

First, the big one, Secretary of State. Several outlets are reporting that Trump will tap Florida Senator Marco Rubio for the role. Rubio was once a harsh critic of Trump, and things even got pretty nasty between the two men when they both ran for president back in twenty sixteen.

Yeah, it's probably still fresh on a lot of our minds. Trump attacked Rubio as not being presidential material, gave him that honor of a nickname, Little Marco. Rubio, in turn made fun of Trump for having small hands. Remember all of that. Well, their relationship didn't stay sour or Bio has been a reliable supporter of Trump during his election cycle.

Also, moving on to the role of Homeland Security Secretary, Trump has selected South Dakota Governor Christy Nome. According to CNN, citing two sources, she has been a GOP rising star for the past couple of years and was considered even a contender to be Trump's vice president and for.

The role of National Security advisor. Trump has reportedly asked Florida Congressman Mike Waltz to serve in that role, according to multiple reports, Waltz is a former Green Beret and has served on the House Armed Services Committee.

Also a couple of others to mention here. It's widely expected that Trump will soon named Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff for policy. Miller also served in the first Trump administration and as one of Trump's top advisors on immigration policy.

And finally, Trump announced he wants former New York Congressman Lee Zelden to head the Environmental Protection Agency. Zelden went on to social media onto x saying that he is going to restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry, and bring back American job He said he's also going to make the US the global leader of AI, and he says he's going to do so while protecting access to clean air and water.

All right, we'll continue on our run on this Tuesday morning. With President Biden and Vice President Harris yesterday making their first joint appearance since her election, laws they both took part in the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

Yes, they were side by side during a procession and while laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier. First Lady Jill Biden, second Gentleman Doug em Hooff were also there in attendance. President Biden delivered remarks acknowledging this is the last time I will stand at Arlington as commander in chief. It has been the greatest honor of my life. It was something to see them side by side after all of the fingerpointing that's happened in the past week following Harris's loss on election.

Day, fingerpointing, all those fingers were directed at Biden.

It seemed you are correct, you are correct. And yet there they were as a solid front there at Arlington National Seven.

You know, after all we have seen and gone through the past week with the election, they have day jobs, they have something to get back to, and this is the role where we have seventy days left in the Biden administration. There's even some wild talk out there about Biden needing to step down as president, resign, that he could still a part of his legacy be he made room for the first female president, first woman to ever be president. I know that sounds wild, but it's starting to gain some mainstream steam.

You know. And to each their own in terms of their opinion on that. But I don't think that most people would like to be handed a job that would be that historically significant in that way. I think we would all like to earn it, or to at least be voted in, And especially with Harris, who actually didn't even get the nomination in the way most politicians would, so I would think she would not prefer that to happen. But yet the rumors continue.

We have seen a lot of crazy stuff this election cycle, so who knows, but they won't.

Hold your breath on that one, or don't hold your breath on that one, is what I would say.

But I'm with you on that one. Next up, yere, as we continue our Tuesday morning run, those thirty four felonies, You remember those thirty four felonies. He's a thirty four time convicted felon Where all that could go away for Trump? Today a judge is set to determine if Trump's convictions in that hush money case. Will stand.

Isn't it crazy? TJ. Don't you remember exactly where we were when we watched those thirty four felony convictions come down. They were being handed down as we were sitting outside at a restaurants.

Ready to go to a racial Platinum suctor.

I'll never forget where we were, and it seemed so significant, and yet now it might be so insignificant. Yes, Donald Trump was convicted May thirtieth for falsifying business records related to money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. He was set to be sentenced at the end of this month. The Supreme Court ruling put a well a monkey wrench into all of that. The court ruled in July that presidents have sweeping immunity from criminal prosecution.

So Trump and his lawyers are using that Supreme Court ruling to make a request that his criminal case and the convictions should be thrown out. So the judge today, he said it gave himself the deadline for today of issuing a ruling. His options are he could throw out all the convictions. He could uphold the convictions. He could also just order a new trial. He could then possibly dismiss the case entirely. He has some options, but it is possible that all the talk we heard about a thirty four time convicted felon that case and those convictions could go bye bye. Today.

We will be watching that all right. Next up on our run cryptocurrencies, we're watching those as well. They're continuing to soar following Trump's victory. It's all a part of what some are now calling the Trump pump. Bitcoin has been shattering its own previous records. I've been checking. By the moment, it's now trading just shy of ninety thousand. Investors believe that number may reach the six figure mark by the end of this year.

It was just at sixty eight thousand a week ago on election day, and has well more than doubled from this year's low of thirty eighty five hundred five year Today, bitcoin is now gained more than ninety percent.

Trump promised on the campaign trail that if he was elected, he would make the United States quote the crypto capital of the planet, and to accumulate a national stockpile of bitcoin, which is growing more valuable by the second.

Well, we will continue now on our run, and millions of people on the East Coast might not even be able to hear us on this morning's Morning Run because well, they lost their internet service. This has happened on the East Coast and the evening and early morning hours, millions are without it. Verizon files who were talking about they've confirmed a major outage or a network maintenance issue. They actually tweeted they don't have the full details just yet. They are apologizing for the inconvenience. But the inconvenience is mainly on the East East Coast with millions of people out, and then there's some area of southern Kansas that's an experience in an outage as well.

Yeah, it's a bizarre map when you see who's affected, and there is no real explanation. Verizon just said that repairs began just before eleven pm last night when they were made aware of the situation, and they expect services to be restored by eleven am this morning. That's Tuesday morning. Verizon FiOS, by the way, the largest provider of mobile services in the country, and according to an online tracking service, at least twenty six cities have now reported some type of outage.

Yeah, ninety percent of the complaints are related solely to internet services. Nine percent reported a total blackout. I was confused. If they say we are fixing the problem, we'll have it worked out soon, even though we don't know exactly what the problem is.

Doesn't feel super encouraging, not at all all, right, next up on our run. New York Mayor Eric Adams would rather go to trials soon then later, and has asked a judge in his criminal case to move up his trial date. Adams officially made this request in a court filing yesterday.

This trial is currently scheduled for April twenty third, but he wanted to start on April first. Why Well, he's got other things to do, namely run for reelection, that's right.

Adams is arguing that the later date would get in the way of him being fully engaged in his re election campaign, since the trial would likely conclude in late May, which would be just a month before voters start casting ballots in the mayoral primary. The mayor thinks he's going to be sidelined during such a critical time of his reelection campaign.

And, from his attorney tells the court, an earlier trial date will ensure that the mayor will be able to fully participate in his re election campaign and that this city's voters can be rid of the distraction of this misguided indictment as they hear from and evaluate the Democratic candidates for mayor on their merits.

Adams has pleaded not guilty to five federal corruption charges against him. Prosecut Kittors are accusing him of accepting gifts in exchange for political favors. It's not clear when we might have a ruling on Adam's request, and certainly what we saw happening with Trump and the Supreme Court does not apply to mayors.

Again, Which way will it go? If he is then, if he's exonerated, he'll be able to go out there on the campaign trail as a newly exonerated guy. If he's convicted, he'll be able to go out there and say, I am a victim of political prosecution. You should what do you do?

We'll see what the New York voters have to say about it.

Well, stay with us all this Tuesday morning. Our run is going to continue in a moment, and we have US Airlines stopping all of their air traffic to Haiti because their planes are getting shot at next up on our Tuesday morning run, the main airport in Haiti is closed to air traffic after at least two s two two US airlines had their planes hit by gunfire.

Yeah, this is some scary stuff. The first incident involved a Spirit Airlines flight from Fort Lauderdale. It was trying to land in Port A Prince and was within six hundred feet of the runway when gangs opened fire on the jet, making it have to divert to the Dominican Republic. A flight attendant reportedly suffered minor injuries.

And then, in another incident yesterday, a Jet Blue flight from Haiti to New York. It didn't report an incident when it took off from Haiti, it landed safely at JFK, but a post flight inspection of the plane found evidence that yes, it had also been hit by gunfire.

Wow. The US put out an alert specifically warning of what it called gang led efforts to block travel to and from Port A Prince, which may include armed violence and disruptions to roads, ports and airports.

Spirit, American Airlines, and Jet Blue have all announced that they are suspending all of their flights into and out of the US continues to warn that this is an unpredictable and dangerous situation, and that statement says the US government cannot guarantee your safety traveling to Haiti to the airports there, so they may get pretty clear you flat out you shouldn't just be going you sh shouldn't be going Haiti right now. Yeah.

I think they said you should consider your personal security situation before traveling to Haiti, and that is certainly good advice. Indeed, our run takes us now to what's become our daily Monkeys on the Loose update, and progress is being made. We are happy to report, slowly but surely, now more than half of the monkeys that escape from that South Carolina research lab have been recovered.

You say happy to report, I'm rooting for the monkeys. As of this morning, thirty of the forty three runaways have been captured. That means we have thirteen that are still on the loop.

Yeah, we still have an update for you tomorrow too. It's certainly exciting for US. Authorities said that a team of vets have been brought in to conduct wellness exams on the monkeys who have been recovered, and they've said so that all the monkeys, all the monkeys that have been recaptured, are given snacks and police let us know what favorite is peanut butter and jelly.

Why did they let us know that?

I don't know. It cracked me up, and it was a detail I felt remiss to not include.

You don't see that in a lot of police reports, do you? The monkeys like peanut, butter and jelly? A good point? Okay, I'm with you. Recovery effort's going to continue until all of the monkeys are recovered, and police reiterated that members of the community should call nine one one if they see any of them on the loose out there. Tomorrow is going to be a full week since the animals escaped after a new employee it didn't properly secure an enclosure at the facility. And they continue to say that the monkeys aren't a threat. Correct, not a health threat. They're not dangerous, but did.

Not approach them to lock your doors and your windows into call nine one one. Yes, we love but nothing to worry about it. We love that all right. We all have this next story, and it's our last story. It's a perfect way to end. The final lug of our run takes us to the state of Maryland, where Harriet tup Mean was officially awarded the rank of general using Veterans Day and the backdrop of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park. Governor Wesmore held a formal ceremony to posthumously make Tubman a one star brigadier general in the state's National Guard.

And Governor mor said, today we celebrate a soldier and a person who earned the title a veteran. Subman was the first woman to oversee an American military action during a time of war by establishing the underground railroad network and then becoming a scout, a spy, and was a nurse for the Union Army during the Civil War.

At the ceremony were Tubman's descendants. There were members of the military there and local leaders who called the award long overdue. There was apparently a new law that was put into place in Maryland that allowed the government the governor to posthumously award and recognize people like Tubman, and so it's a pretty cool honor and everyone was celebrating yesterday. I loved what Governor Moore said at the ceremony. It gave me chills. He said, there is nobody who defined leave no one behind in the way that General Tubman left no one behind.

That's a long standing bonder of the military. Right, no man left behind, no person left behind, certainly for Sae. But yeah, we've heard that for a long time. And that was a nice nugget. This was a nice nod. It was a nice something they could do, hopefully non controversial. Nobody could argue with. It was just a nice nod for Harriet Tubman and for history.

Yeah, and I love that we now can call her General Tubman. Very very cool.

All Right, folks, as you continue about your day, you want to leave you with this something for you to consider as you go about your Tuesday.

Yes, here is our quote of the day. It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. That is from the poet Ee Cummings. But I love that because it certainly does. I think that's something We spend our whole lives trying to be what we think we should be or what people want us to be, and it takes courage to actually be who you are.

So folks, take that with you today. It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. And with that, I know some of you may be going back to work today. Maybe you had a longer weekend with the Veteran's Day holiday, but whatever you may be doing, hope you have a good one today. We always appreciate you running with us.

I'm TJ Mo and I'm Amy Robach. Have a wonderful Tuesday, everyone,
