It’s day one of the highly anticipated murder trial of a 35-year-old labor and delivery nurse, charged with the strangling deaths of her three young children. The defense says Massachusetts mom Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum depression and was actively seeking treatment for it when the unthinkable happened. The prosecution claims the young mother acted with “deliberate, premeditated and extreme atrocity and cruelty” when she killed her 5-year-old, 3-year-old and 8-month-old children after sending her husband out to get take out dinner for the family.
