The President spent roughly an hour on the dais, finally giving that much anticipated speech to the very group he spars with daily, the members of the White House correspondents association. Even though he said last night’s speech wasn’t as much of a “doozy” as his original speech he planned to give back in April, he still delivered cutting, offensive remarks aimed at some of his familiar foes. The president went after at least one member of this cabinet and made a few, rare self deprecating jokes that landed. But the tension in the room was real, with many of his biting, insensitive comments putting members of the audience in an awkward position.
